Die chinesische Firma ist einer der größten Hersteller von Lithium-Ion-Akkus (Li-Ion), die für Mobilgeräte wie Notebooks, Mobiltelefone, MP3-Player, Bluetooth-Headsets, Digitalkameras, PDAs etc. aber auch für hybridelektronische Fahrzeuge verwendet werden. Lithium-Ion-Akkus haben im Gegensatz zu anderen Lithiumbatterien einen viel längeren Lebenszyklus und müssen somit viel seltener ausgewechselt werden. Ein Vorteil, der neben dem Geldbeutel auch der Umwelt zu Gute kommt. Die Firma ist an der Nasdaq gelistet und hat im ersten Halbjahr 2010 (endete am 31. März 2010) 104 US-Dollar Umsatz erzielt. Auf das Gesamtjahr hochgerechnet kommt das Unternehmen auf einen geschätzten Jahresumsatz von über 200 Millionen US-Dollar. Bei der aktuellen Marktkapitalisierung von 89 Millionen US-Dollar ist die China BAK Battery mit einem Drittel des Umsatzes bewertet. Außerdem wird gemunkelt, dass das Unternehmen sehr bald einen Auftrag von einem großen amerikanischen Autohersteller für Hybrid-Batterien bekommen wird.

Earnings Alert: China BAK Battery is Expected to Beat the Street Consensus When It Reports Earnings (CBAK)

Analysts, on average, expect China BAK Battery (NASDAQ:CBAK) to report a loss of $0.01 on sales of $53 million on July 23, 2010.
For the full year, analysts expect the company to post a loss of $0.08. In the year-ago period, the company reported a loss of $0.09 on sales of $45 million.
In the previous quarter, the company reported a loss of $0.04, missing consensus estimates for a break-even quarter.
SmarTrend is bearish on shares of China BAK Battery and our subscribers were alerted to Sell on April 27, 2010 at $2.10. The stock has fallen 30.8% since the alert was issued.

China BAK Awarded a New Contract to Supply High-Power Batteries to Chery Automobile
SHENZHEN, China, Sept.10 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China BAK Battery, Inc. ("China BAK", the "Company", or "we") , a leading global manufacturer of lithium-based battery cells, today announced that the Company's Tianjin facility was awarded a new contract by Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. ("Chery"), one of China BAK's major Electric Vehicle (EV) customers, officially launched its first Lithium-ion solution EV, Ruilin M1, powered by China BAK's lithium-ion phosphate batteries at the 25th World Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exposition (EVS) on November 5, 2010.
