Rakuten Mobile is a carrier service, and their current plan, Rakuten UN-LIMIT VII, is priced much cheaper than the three major carriers (Softbank, docomo, and au) and even some of the cheap SIM services. Their plan is priced from 1,078 yen (tax included) per month for 3GB or less, up to 3,278 yen (tax included) per month at maximum for unlimited data.
Their great service will surprise you with unlimited high-speed data communication capacity in the Rakuten network area, and unlimited domestic calls using the calling app “Rakuten Link”

AST’s service is perhaps more ambitious than what T-Mobile announced. Sievert said that he hopes T-Mobile will someday be able to deliver data via SpaceX’s satellites, where AST’s express goal is to operate 4G and 5G networks. It’s betting that the idea of broadband will be more appealing than just being able to text and make calls from remote locations. “We all really understand that phones can go out of service quite frequently, or coverage can be poor. And that was a point that was highlighted by T-Mobile. So our solution is really attractive in that regard,” Wisniewski said.
Where SpaceX and T-Mobile’s plan is largely limited to the US and its territories — the wireless spectrum SpaceX is using for its service is owned and operated by other carriers and agencies internationally, so additional deals are necessary for it to work anywhere outside the US — AST and Lynk have global aspirations. AST has gotten investment and a five-year exclusivity deal with Vodafone, one of the world’s largest cell providers, and has also received investment from Rakuten, a mobile carrier in Japan.

The advantages of Open Ran against the black boxes of traditional networks
Easy and simple: Network Disaggregation
Telecommunications in upheaval: The networks of the future are open to software partners, more intelligent and adapt flexibly to new requirements. You can also read here what "Access 4.0" and "Open RAN" have to do with it.
The networks are changing. Until now, they have been closed systems full of so-called "black boxes". From the network operators' point of view, these are the non-transparent components of hardware and software that they use to control their networks.

- New data solutions to be researched and developed by leveraging the data and expertise of both companies
Tokyo, September 1, 2022 – Rakuten Group, Inc. and Hakuhodo DY Holdings Inc. today announced the establishment of Rakuten Data Solutions, Inc., a new company which will research and develop new data solutions, with operations now underway.
Rakuten Data Solutions will research and develop data solutions for advertising clients using Rakuten’s accumulated online and offline consumer behavior analysis data – which draws from a membership base of more than 100 million* members in Japan alone – as well as leveraging the consumer and media data and marketing expertise the Hakuhodo DY Group has accrued as a marketing services company. Toshimasa Tanaka, President and Representative Director of MIHA, Inc., Rakuten’s influencer marketing company, will assume the position of President and Representative Director of Rakuten Data Solutions.
In recent years, marketing strategies that focus on maximizing customer LTV (lifetime value) have become essential to the sustained business growth of companies. As a result, companies have needed to respond with full-funnel strategies to every step in the consumer behavior journey, from brand awareness, to purchase, to converting consumers into fans. It is this business environment in which Rakuten Data Solutions will research and develop new solutions that combine the strengths of both Rakuten and Hakuhodo DY Holdings, and contribute to integrated marketing activities.
To date, both Rakuten and Hakuhodo DY Holdings have supported the marketing activities of a variety of companies by leveraging their strengths respectively. The establishment of Rakuten Data Solutions will allow both companies to combine their efforts, leading to next-generation data solutions.
