The Indonesian unicorn has been aggressively expanding its services across Southeast Asia in recent months. GOJEK launched the full version of GET in Bangkok last week. The Singapore and Vietnam markets are operating on the beta version of the GOJEK app. It, however, suffered a roadblock in The Philippines after regulators banned its entry due to foreign ownership issues. Last year, GOJEK said it plans to extend its services to Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia this year.

Reach new customers - Getting smarter about ads, without crossing any “creepy” lines

Improving engagement is an important goal for marketers, but this doesn’t just include interacting with current customers. With the massive user-base on messaging apps, marketers can reach new customers that could be interested in their brand through smart (but not invasive) advertisements.
Privacy and targeted ads are hot topics in the social media marketing realm today, and consumers are hypersensitive about data misuse. By working with the right messaging platform, brands can ensure they’re not crossing any boundaries when collecting or analyzing user information. This means finding apps that don’t read and sell insights from personal conversations and only target users based on anonymized data and actions on the app.

・Rakuma
・Rakuten Brand Avenue
・Rakuten Books
・Rakuten BIC
・Rakuten Seiyu Netsuperetc.

software upgrade

So 5G for us is a -- for the core. We are ready today for 5G core. Why? Because our core is nothing but a virtual machine. To go from 4G to 5G is a simple software upgrade. So the only thing that we have to worry about is what is called new radio. New radio is the new antenna. For -- in Japan, it could be in 28 gigahertz, 3.7 or 4.5. These are the only thing we have to do. We don't have any upgrades that we have to do at the site. So of course, we are ready. My upgrades happen in the edge. And the edge is just nothing but software. So I think that's a huge advantage thinking about 5G. And the one other thing I will really tell you about 5G, we believe we're deploying what we consider true 5G in our core. So in the industry, you will hear something called standalone and non-standalone 5G core architecture. Rakuten Mobile network 5G core architecture will be a standalone architecture from day 1. That's a very, very important thing. That is how you deliver the disruption that 5G has been intended to do.

angekommen: Die Rakuten-Beteiligung Upstart

Founded in 2013 by Girouard and fellow former Google Inc. veterans, Upstart has generated $3.1 billion in loans since a pivot to consumer lending in 2016. More than 60 percent are generated automatically using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Upstart also sells subscription software to other banks and credit unions.

The company reports its loss rate is lower than peer lenders, especially for lenders with lower credit scores. Its customers seek loans for personal expenses such as cars, tuition, medical bills or consolidating credit card debt.

Revenue had triple-digit growth last year, with five months of cash-flow profits, the CEO wrote.

Cabify returns to Barcelona with a workaround for ride-hailing wait limits
Natasha Lomas@riptari / 6 days ago

Well that didn’t take long. Despite warning loudly and publicly that incoming changes to private-hire vehicle (VTC) rules in Catalonia would drive it out of Barcelona for good, and force it to fire thousands of drivers, Spanish ride-hailing firm Cabify has announced it’s back operating in the city from today — a month after it left.

The Spanish ride-hailing firm claims to have adapted its business model to comply with regulations, brought in by the local government by decree last month, which impose a waiting time of at least 15 minutes between a booking being made and a passenger being picked up.
