Successful first year for Neste Oil

Neste Oil Corporation
Stock Exchange Release
15 February 2006 at 9:00 am EET

The market in 2005 was favorable for an oil refiner with complex refining capacity. Product prices remained at historically high levels, reflecting the increasing global demand for high-quality traffic fuels and high crude prices. Neste Oil recorded a strong full-year profit and cash flow, despite a record-high level of capital expenditure and a scheduled major maintenance shutdown at its Porvoo refinery in Finland.

In April, Neste Oil was demerged from its former parent company and listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. The company attracted a lot of interest from investors from the start and the share price closed the year up by 65%.

2005 in brief:
• Comparable operating profit of EUR 525 million (carve-out 2004: 584 million)
• Operating profit of EUR 791 million (carve-out 2004: 713 million)
• Earnings per share of EUR 2.60 (carve-out 2004: 2.37)
• Cash flow from operations of EUR 596 million (carve-out 2004: 537 million)
• Sale of SeverTEK in line with strategic focus on oil refining
• Diesel Project on schedule, construction of biodiesel plant started
• The Board of Directors proposes a dividend of EUR 0.80 per share

President & CEO Risto Rinne:
"Last year was a successful one for Neste Oil. This provided us with the muscle to finance our investment program and to reduce our net debt. In addition, we achieved several important milestones, including the listing of the company in April, a five-week scheduled shutdown at Porvoo, and progressed with our key investment projects designed to increase diesel and biodiesel production. Looking into 2006, successful commissioning of the Diesel Project will be our largest challenge. It will also be very important to make swift progress on the biodiesel projects and see through an efficient maintenance shutdown at the Naantali refinery. I have every reason to believe that the market will continue to be favorable for us in 2006, as we continue with our strategy of focusing on high-quality fuels for cleaner traffic."

investiert.

Neste Oil Oyj: Neste oil to launch 98-octane biogasoline in finland
Monday 03 April 2006 13:00 EEST Kauppalehti Online

Neste Oil Corporation        Press Release
                            3 April 2006 at 1:00 p.m. EET

NESTE OIL TO LAUNCH 98-OCTANE BIOGASOLINE IN FINLAND

Neste Oil is to be the first company in Finland to launch retail sales of a
gasoline containing a biocomponent. Neste Oil's new Futura 98 biogasoline will
contain 2-5% of a biocomponent, which will be either ethanol sourced from within
the EU or ethanol-based ETBE.

Distribution of the new gasoline will begin on 10 April south of a line running
from Hanko through Tampere, Jyväskylä, and Joensuu. The new fuel will be
available at Neste stations and A24 unmanned outlets as they are restocked with
fuel.

Futura 98 biogasoline can be used in all gasoline engines, as it fully complies
with all current specifications. Fuel consumption, engine output, and other
aspects of performance are all unaffected. The addition of a biocomponent will
not affect color or odor either. Emissions of carbon dioxide will be lower as a
result of the addition of a biocomponent.

"Neste Oil is committed to being the first company to launch new products like
this. And now is the right time to introduce bio-based fuels on Finnish roads, we
believe," says Matti Peitso, Neste Oil's Executive Vice President, Oil Retail.

The launch of Futura 98 biogasoline in Finland is in line with Neste Oil's
strategy of focusing on high-quality fuels for cleaner traffic, and which is
reflected in a number of the company's operations, including development work on
new biofuels.

"We believe that a significant proportion of traffic fuels will be produced from
renewables or alternative raw materials in 20 years from now," says Neste Oil's
Executive Vice President, Components, Kimmo Rahkamo. "We're actively involved in
these developments and are pioneering a number of technologies. We want to ensure
that the biogasoline and biodiesel available to Finnish motorists is of the
highest quality, and that their use will not require any modifications to
vehicles or fuel distribution systems."

Sales of biogasoline took place on a trial basis at Neste stations in 2002 and
2003, to assess the suitability of the fuel for Finnish conditions.

Futura 98 biogasoline will be a few eurocents more expensive than normal Futura
98, as a result of the fact that the raw materials needed to produce it are more
expensive and that biogasoline is not covered by any tax incentives as yet.

Neste Oil Q1 profits beat forecasts on high oil price UPDATE

(Updating with analysts' comments)

HELSINKI (AFX) - Neste Oil (Nachrichten) posted better-than-expected first quarter earnings as product prices remained above historical averages, and said it sees the market fundamentals in oil refining as likely to remain unchanged.

First quarter pretax profit came in at 153 mln, up from a comparable 140 mln a year earlier, and beating analysts' expectations which centred on 123 mln according to a survey by SME/Kauppalehti.

Quarterly earnings per share rose to 0.44 eur versus a comparable 0.41 in the corresponding quarter a year ago. The consensus forecast was for earnings per share of 0.36 eur.

Sales climbed 35 pct to 2.796 bln eur ahead of expectations of 2.671 bln and up from last year's like-for-like first quarter figure of 2.060 bln eur.

An analyst at a Helsinki-based brokeragee said that the figures did not deliver any surprises except in the sales figure.

'Profit levels were in line with our forecasts and there was nothing really major,' said the analyst, who wished to remain unnamed.

Neste Oil also said it will book 110 mln eur gain in the second quarter from sales of fixed assets.

Looking ahead, the oil refiner warned that the continued rise in oil prices may start to have an impact on consumer behaviour and economic growth.

'This was the only negative aspect in the outlook, but it did not add any new information,' Juha Iso-Herttua from eQ Bank said.

Neste Oil, which was demerged from its former parent company and listed in April last year, said the gasoline market has been strong in April and the diesel market is expected to remain firm, as demand is moving ahead strongly compared to supply.

He also sees the company's move into the bio fuel segment as 'strategic'.

'Sales have started for this (fuel) this month, but it will need two to three years to bring in solid profits,' Iso-Herttua said.

Sales of its Futura 98 bio gasoline, a new 98 octane bio fuel that contains 2-5 pct of ethanol, started from April 10 in south Finland.

0742 GMT [Dow Jones] Morgan Stanley upgrades Neste Oil (NES1V.HE) to overweight from equalweight, and lifts price target to EUR33 from EUR27 due to its growth plans in bio-diesel, exposure to the US gasoline market, and cheap valuation. Ordentliche Korrektur heute...!

HELSINKI, July 28 (Reuters) - Finnish refiner Neste Oil reported a weaker-than-expected second-quarter profit, weighed down by losses at its renewables unit, which the firm forecast to deepen in the third quarter.

Neste Oil's shares fell 8.3 pct to 9.28 euros in early trade.

Analysts said the results were soft and that some of the firm's outlook comments were gloomy.

"More worrying than the second-quarter results were comments on the renewables unit's third quarter performance and a diesel line four weeks shutdown," said Evli bank analyst Antti Koskivuori.

The company repeated that its renewable fuels business is expected to report a operating loss this year and, and that the unit's loss would widen in the third quarter from the 55 million euros reported in the second quarter.

It also said its diesel production line 4 at its Porvoo refinery will be shutdown for four weeks in October for maintenance.

The Finnish refiner has invested 1.4 billion euros in its renewables business and has two renewable diesel lines in the Finnish town of Porvoo. Its Singapore renewables plant started operations last November and the company is due to start a new renewables plant in Rotterdam in the current quarter.

But the firm said renewables sales were insufficient to compensate for higher production costs.

Neste's April-June comparable operating profit, excluding inventory and capital gains or losses, rose to 32 million euros ($45.96 million) from 5 million a year ago when it was hurt by major maintenance. That was well below the average forecast of 49 million euros in a Reuters poll of analysts.

Quarterly revenue grew 43 percent to 3.67 billion euros, also below the market's forecast of 3.74 billion.

Neste Oil's total refining margin in April-June rose to $8.99/bbl from $7.35 a year ago. It said it expected the base oil market to remain strong throughout 2011 and to support its total refining margin.

Schau mal hier:
https://www.neste.com/sites/neste.com/files/...annual_report_2021.pdf

Auszug aus dem Geschäftsbericht 2021 (S. 97):
Crude oil and fossil feedstock sources by region, million tons: 10,1
Russia: 7,8 (also rund 78% am Gesamtvolumen)
Norway: 1,3
Kazakhstan: 0,3
Other countries: 0,7

"From the beginning of April onwards, Neste has within the frame of existing supply contracts and technical capabilities replaced approximately 85% of the Russian crude oil with other qualities."
