GAMESA Rückenwind in Zahlen und Aufträgen
GE is not engaged in serious discussions to acquire Adwen, the offshore wind joint venture of Gamesa and Areva, and already has all the pieces in place to become a leading offshore turbine supplier globally, GE Renewable Energy chief executive Jérôme Pécresse tells Recharge.
Earlier this month, during reporting about Siemens’ ongoing attempts to buy Gamesa, whose stake in Adwen is complicating the process, Reuters said that GE was “interested” in buying the offshore OEM, citing remarks made by Pécresse.
But Pécresse says that his words were twisted, insisting: “I did not say that. “We are not today engaged in any deep discussions with anybody.”...

Following its acquisition of Alstom last year and the use of its turbines at the Block Island project, “GE has all the ingredients to be as successful in offshore wind as it has been in onshore wind — on its own,” he adds.
“We’ll probably have to develop some bigger turbines... [but] we have good technology developed by Alstom... and now we’re improving that technology by using all of GE’s onshore knowledge.
The first contract encompasses the supply of 50 G114-2.0 MW Class S (100 MW) turbines at a wind farm located in the Indian state of Karnataka (scheduled for commissioning in March 2017), while the second covers the supply of 12 turbines of the same make (24 MW) at another facility in the same state (slated for commissioning mid-2016).
Gamesa recently signed its first order for the supply of its G114-2.0 MW Class S turbine in India for 184 MW in total; the Indian pipeline for this product has now been increased by 124 MW. The G114-2.0 MW, the order intake for which reached nearly 2 GW in 2015 globally, has a sweep area 38% greater than that of the G97-2.0 MW and produces up to 20% more energy per annum.
The company also secured another two contracts for the turnkey construction of two wind farms in the state of Rajasthan: one project with capacity of 50 MW, where Gamesa will install 25 of its G97-2.0 MW turbines, and another one with capacity of 24 MW, equipped with 12 of its G97-2.0 MW Class S turbines. As these are EPC contracts, the company will also handle the entire infrastructure needed to install and operate the facilities. Both projects are due for commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2016. ...

Gamesa's G132-3.3 MW turbine has been named one of the 100 best ideas of 2015 by Spanish financial journal, Actualidad Económica. In its appraisal, the journal highlighted the fact that this turbine is capable of boosting electricity output in medium wind-speed conditions...
The G132-3.3 MW, a class II turbine, offers the best cost of energy in its category. This turbine will come in four different tower heights, ranging from 84 to 134 metres, so that it can be tailored for each region's specific requirements. Moreover, this new turbine's blade, which is made from fibreglass and spans 64.5 metres, features a new family of aerodynamic edges which increase annual output while minimising noise emissions.....

As part of the merger, Siemens will fund a cash payment of €3.75 per share, which will be distributed to Gamesa's shareholders (excluding Siemens) immediately following the completion of the merger (net of any ordinary dividends paid until completion of the merger). The cash payment represents 26 percent of Gamesa's unaffected share price at market close on January 28, 2016.

Good performance in the first half triggered an upgrade of the revenues and EBIT guidance for 2016
Record revenues and order intake reflect Gamesa's sound strategy.
Gamesa is advancing with the merger with Siemens Wind Power to create a global leader in the wind power business, with a sustainable long-term value proposition for all our stakeholders.
Gamesa ended the first half of 2016 with record orders, revenues and returns. The company reported €138 million in net profit in the first half, a 42% increase, on €2,192 million in revenues (+33%), and €2301 million in EBIT, plus a record 1,180 MW in order intake.
This performance, which is higher than projected at the beginning of the year, enabled the company to upgrade its guidance for 2016 in terms of both volume (≥4,000 MWe) and operating profitability (EBIT ≥€430 million and EBIT margin ≥9.5%).
