ARISE TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF SILICON WAFER SUPPLY AGREEMENT
ARISE Technologies Corp.'s wholly owned subsidiary ARISE Technologies Deutschland GmbH has entered into a silicon wafer supply agreement with Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. (SAS) of Taiwan.
Under the terms of the agreement, SAS will supply silicon wafers to ARISE Germany's 80-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) cell production facility in Bischofswerda, Germany, commencing Jan. 1, 2008, through to Dec. 31, 2010. The three-year agreement consists of approximately 14 MW of wafers. This is the first of what the company expects will be a series of short-term supply agreements.
Commenting on the agreement, Ian MacLellan, ARISE president and chief executive officer, remarked, "We look forward to our partnership with SAS, and are particularly pleased with this agreement which strengthens our wafer supply position in the short term."
ARISE previously announced it had signed a 200 MW silicon wafer supply agreement with Deutsche Solar AG of Germany.

DRESDEN, Germany, Dec. 19 /CNW/ - ARISE Technologies Corporation ("ARISE" or the "Company") (TSX-V: APV - News; ADAX: A3T) is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary ARISE Technologies Deutschland GmbH (ARISE Germany) has received from the Saechsische AufbauBank (SAB) a further payment of Euro 2.3 million. Payments received to date equal Euro 4.3 million of the Euro 12.4 million incentive grant previously announced by the Company and payable over the term of the Company's high efficiency photovoltaic cell manufacturing plant construction project. ARISE Germany is also eligible to receive refundable federal tax credits in connection with its funding of the project in the amount of Euro 12.15 million over the term of the project resulting in total German government incentive funding of Euro 24.55 million.

The German government incentive funding combined with the previously announced credit facilities with the Commerzbank AG and the previously announced equity investment by ARISE is being used to construct and equip ARISE Germany's Euro 50.0 million plant in Bischofswerda, Germany.
