Seagate Technology posts $229 million 3Q profit (STX) By Rex Crum
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Seagate Technology (STX) on Tuesday reported a third-quarter profit of $229 million, or 45 cents a share, on revenue of $1.97 billion. During the same period a year ago, the disk-drive maker earned $159 million, or 32 cents a share, on $1.39 billion in revenue. The company beat the estimates of analysts who forecast earnings of 37 cents a share on revenue of $1.87 billion.

Intel profit up 25%, sales climb 17% (INTC) By Matt Andrejczak
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Intel Corp. (INTC) reported a higher first-quarter profit of $2.2 billion, or 34 cents a share, compared with the year-ago profit of $1.7 billion, or 26 cents a share. Sales climbed 17% to $9.4 billion. The results beat Wall Street's expectations of 31 cents a share on revenue of $9.3 billion. Ahead of the report, Intel shares closed up 42 cents, or 1.9%, at $22.63.

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Juniper Networks (JNPR) said late Tuesday first-quarter profit more than doubled to $75.4 million, or 13 cents a share, up from $33.5 million, or 8 cents, a year ago. Excluding charges for stock-based compensation and an acquisition, Juniper earned 16 cents a share, beating Wall Street estimates by a penny. Sales doubled to $449 million from $224 million as Juniper, the second-largest maker of Internet routers after Cisco Systems, sold more of its gear to phone companies. The sales figure topped the average analyst estimate of $440 million.
