Willy Woo Still Bullish on Bitcoin
Willy Woo, the renowned cryptocurrency analyst, recently tweeted that the cryptocurrency market this year is stronger than it was at the same time in 2014. According to his tweet, there is a lot of buying going on behind the fear and capitulation in the market. His tweet was accompanied by a chart with OBV indicators comparing the price of Bitcoin between December 2017 to August 2018, and December 2013 to January 2015.

Looking at the technical indicators:
Hourly MACD – The MACD for BTC/USD is about to move back in the bullish zone.
Hourly RSI (Relative Strength Index) – The RSI is moving higher towards the 50 level.
Major Support Level – $6,220
Major Resistance Level – $6,550

The recent pop higher is being attributed to anticipation over the SEC decision on a number of bitcoin ETF applications due August 23. This batch from ProShares was submitted back in December, so the regulator could no longer extend the deadline for their ruling unlike they did so for VanEck/SolidX.
Nevertheless, we still have four months to go before 2019 is ready to ring in, so it’s a bad idea to use the term “never.” At the same time, bitcoin has lost nearly 70 percent of its value since January, dropping from a near $20,000 down to where it is now. Four months simply doesn’t seem like a long enough period for bitcoin to pick itself back up and head into the five-figure range.
In fact, bitcoin attempted to add $400 to its price in 20 minutes during Wednesday’s early morning hours, but the spike couldn’t last. Bitcoin ultimately shot up to $6,800 following an alleged distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on BitMEX in which hackers forced a site offline, but later fell right back down to $6,400. This suggests that bitcoin’s current figure is either offering extreme support or extreme resistance and preventing the currency from moving further.

Fundstat’s Tom Lee is back in the news and betting on a $20,000 price once again. Despite the nasty drops and bitcoin’s up-and-down behavior as of late, he still believes the currency could end the year on a solid note.
Lastly, he also confirms that hedge funds have gotten heavily involved in the crypto market, and believes they’re influencing the arena like they never have before.
“I do think in 2018 trading has shifted,” he comments. “I do think hedge funds are playing a role right now.”
