China Life Insurance (LFC) Reiterates 3 STARS (hold) on ADRs Analyst: D. Ch'ng While we are positive on China Life's prospects and are projecting a robust 5-year earnings growth rate of 23%, we think much of the strong fundamentals are reflected in the current share price. Our valuation continues to assume an acceleration in first-year premiums of 16% for 2006 and 2007, but we are raising our long-term premium growth estimates to better reflect China's insurance market potential. On improving growth prospects, we are increasing our 12-month target price to HK$87.00 from HK$77.00. Our estimate assumes a 2006 price-to-book value of 4.7 times and a return on equity of 16%

China Life to raise up to 28 bln yuan in Shanghai A-share offering - report

SHANGHAI (XFN-ASIA) - China Life Insurance (HK 2628), the country's top life insurer, is expected to raise up to 28 bln yuan from a Shanghai A-share offering, state media reported.

China Life is working to complete the offer of up to 1.5 bln A-shares by the end of the year for a January debut on the Shanghai bourse, the official China Securities Journal reported.

The shares are likely to be priced at around a 10 pct discount to the closing price of its Hong Kong listed shares yesterday, or 19.02 hkd, the paper said, citing investment bank sources.

That would fix the range of proceeds at 25-28 bln yuan, the report said.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) will review China Life's A-share offering application on Friday.
