Truth is stranger than fiction, because fiction has to make sense

DURHAM, N.C., Oct 13, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Wellstone Filters (WLSF) announced today that its "full flavored" cigarette utilizing Wellstone's proprietary filter is being favorably received by potential distributors. The marketing concepts proposed to be employed by Wellstone as well as the taste improvements by the filter are hoped to impel a strong product launch as well as customer reorders.
Wellstone intends to become one of the more significant players in the cigarette market comprised of small manufacturers, which have enjoyed increasing market share in recent years. According to the latest information from an industry analyst, the market share of small cigarette manufacturers has grown from 2.3% in 1997 to over 15% in 2003.
Wellstone believes that its patented filter formulation removes tars and certain carcinogens, while providing better taste. However, any claim as to the benefit of any Wellstone cigarette to be sold will be made within the parameters prescribed by the Federal Trade Commission. Wellstone emphasizes that NO cigarette is safe. This corporate communication by Wellstone is not intended to induce any person to purchase future Wellstone tobacco products.

Wellstone Filters Intends to Market in European Union

DURHAM, N.C., Oct 18, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via Comtex/ -- Wellstone Filters (WLSF) announced today that it is planning to market its new cigarette lines in the countries of the European Union. It is estimated by some critics, that tobacco use is responsible for half a million deaths per year in the 15-member European Union -- and even more deaths in the recently expanded EU. About 29% of adults smoke, but in Germany and Greece the percentage is 37%.
"American brand cigarettes have always been popular in Europe," cites L. J. Hand, CEO of Wellstone, "we intend to be a leader in sales there due to our novel, patented approach to filtration."
As a result of the phase-in of the EU's 2001 directive on tobacco products, tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide levels are limited to 10mg, 1mg and 10mg, respectively. Wellstone believes that its new full flavor cigarette will be able to come well under these levels.
In the EU the use of descriptors such as "light" and "mild" in cigarette advertising are banned as deceptive. In the US, about 82% of cigarettes are marketed as "light" or "low tar." Numerous scientific studies have shown that light cigarettes are as problematic as to health issues as regular cigarettes, because smokers compensate by smoking light cigarettes more frequently or inhaling more deeply, or by unconsciously circumventing the filter ventilation holes which enable the cigarette to receive lower tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide ratings on testing equipment. Wellstone's proprietary filter aims to provide better taste while filtering certain carcinogens, with the goal of reducing overall ingestion of carcinogens and consequent smoking deaths.

Currently our operations are being funded by shareholder advances and a financing agreement with a private investment fund controlled by a related party. These shareholder advances, including accrued interest, totaled $102,464 and $100,415 as of June 30, 2004 and December 31, 2003. Until we can enter into contracts with one or more strategic partners, we will continue to have limited operations. On January 2, 2004, we entered into a funding agreement with Arrakis Select Fund, a private investment fund controlled by a brother of our Chief Executive Officer under which agreement Arrakis Select Fund agreed to satisfy Wellstone's funding requirements for 90 days (renewable for additional 90 day periods), in exchange for common stock valued at the closing bid price of the common stock as of the 15th day of the month in which the funding was made. Through March 25, 2004 Wellstone had received $45,000 from Arrakis for the issuance of 74,695 restricted shares. The agreement was renewed for 90 additional days on April 1, 2004 and for 30 additional days on July 1, 2004.
