FRANKFURT – November 12, 2001 –OTI (Neuer Markt: OT5) has annonced today that its wholly owned subsidiary InterCard has equipped the Hanover university and Hanover technical college with OTI’s CampusOne, contactless smart card program for the higher education market.  The first application is a new cash register system for the Campus Catering Services of Hanover`s student union with contactless OTI Products. The whole system covers 13 cafeterias and canteens. The first part of the the project has an overall volume of 20,000 contactless smart cards.. The system also includes 24 checkouts and 12 loading terminals at which cash can be credited to cards. In this first stage, sales revenue from the project totals roughly US$ 230,000.



The student union provides facilities for approximately 60,000 students and staff at Hanover university, as well as the technical college and the college of veterinary medicine. Between them they register about 6,000 students each semester. The new campus solution based on OTI smart cards is focusing initially on the card’s payment function. Future applications on the microprocessor card can be extended to access control, time and attendance recording, as well as payment at slot machines and copiers, etc. Users receive their smart cards in return for a cash deposit. The student union is using advertisements on the reverse side of the card to finance the investment into the new payment system.

In the coming year InterCard is expecting further orders from student facilities all over Germany, based upon the official recommendation made by the Standing Conference of German University Principals, which has expressly endorsed the smart card solution.”

OTI Technologie für Studentenwerk in Hannover


Frankfurt – November 12, 2001 - OTI (Neuer Markt: OT5) hat heute bekannt gegeben, dass seine 100prozentige Tochtergesellschaft InterCard GmbH Kartensysteme die Unversität Hannover sowie die Fachhochschule Hannover mit OTIs CampusOne, dem Programm für kontaktlosen Smart Cards für das Hochschulwesen, ausgerüstet hat. Die erste Lösung wird ein neues Kassensystem für die Verpflegungsbetriebe des Studentenwerks Hannover auf Basis der kontaktlosen OTI-Technologie sein. Das komplette System schließt 13 Mensen und Cafeterien ein. Der erste Teil des Projektes umfasst ein Volumen von zunächst 20.000 kontaktloser Karten. In den ersten Wochen seit Semesterbeginn wurden 12.000 OTI Karten an die Studenten und Lehrkräfte ausgegeben, weitere 6.000 Karten sind bereits nachbestellt worden. Hinzu kommen 24 Kassenplätze sowie zwölf Terminals, an denen Geld auf die Karten gebucht werden kann. Der Umsatz des Projekts beläuft sich in diesem ersten Stadium auf rund US $ 230.000.



Zum Studentenwerk gehören neben der Universität Hannover auch die Fachhochschule und die Tierärztliche Hochschule mit insgesamt etwa 60.000 Studenten und Mitarbeitern. Pro Semester werden etwa 6.000 Studenten immatrikuliert. Die neue Campuslösung auf der Basis von OTI-Smart Cards konzentriert sich zunächst auf die Bezahlfunktion per Karte. Zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt können diese mikroprozessorbasierten Karten mit weiteren Anwendungen wie Zugangskontrolle und die Zeiterfassung, Bezahlen am Verkaufsautomaten und am Kopierer ergänzt werden. Die Studenten und Mitarbeiter der Hochschulen erhalten die Smart Cards gegen eine Pfandgebühr vom Studentenwerk. Finanziert wird die Investition in das neue Zahlungssystem zu einem Teil durch Werbung  auf der Rückseite der Karten .



„Ein wesentlicher Grund, weshalb InterCard den Zuschlag des Studentenwerkes Hannover bekommen hat, ist die umfangreiche Erfahrung, die unser Unternehmen auf dem Gebiet von Campuslösungen schon seit Jahren auszeichnet.“, sagte Gerson Riesle, Geschäftsführer der InterCard GmbH Kartensysteme. „Mit dem Einsatz der OTI-Technologie ist ein weiterer Ausbau des Systems zu jeder Zeit problemlos möglich.
