PriceSmart Sept Sales Dn 12%

SAN DIEGO (Dow Jones)--PriceSmart Inc. reported a 13.2% decrease in September same-store sales, the fifth consecutive monthly decline, sending the stock to a new 52-week low.
In a press release Friday, the warehouse-club operator said total sales for the four weeks ended Sept. 28 fell 12% to $45.1 million from $51.4 million a year earlier.

The company operated 26 warehouses at the end of September, excluding three Mexican sites owned through a joint venture, flat with last year's number.
PriceSmart's Nasdaq-traded shares recently changed hands at $6.22, down 45 cents, or 6.7%, on composite volume more than double the average daily level. Earlier Friday, the stock hit a new 52-week low of $6.14, down from the previous 52-week low of $6.37 set Oct. 2. The 52-week high, reached Nov. 1, is $27.65.
