Wind produces “record” amount of UK electricity

UK wind power has reached the 3 GW milestone for exporting electricity to the National Grid, according to RenewableUK.

The record-breaking amount of electricity from wind power was generated on 6 September with a peak of 3021 MW as wind power supplied 7.2% of the total amount of electricity on the grid.

The record was set as the remnants of Hurrican Irene hit the UK earlier this month.

The actual amount of electricity generated during the period by wind was even higher because a third of all wind turbine capacity in the UK (32%) is connected directly to local electricity networks, and not to the National Grid.

Once that extra 1.5 GW are taken into account, the amount of electricity being generated forom wind reached 4.5 GW, supplying more than 10% of the UK’s electricity needs.

RenewableUK’s Chief Executive, Maria McCaffery, says: "These record-breaking figures show that wind energy is providing ever-increasing amounts of electricity to homes and businesses across the country. It makes a strong case for installing even greater capacity, so that we can make the most of the bountiful wind resource we have in Britain. The benefits are clear – we are generating clean energy, cutting down on expensive and insecure imports of fossil fuels and creating tens of thousands of jobs over the next decade."

Neue Anlage soll Energie in Form von Methan produzieren

Vorteil gegenüber Batterien: Kein Speicherverlust


In Ostfriesland soll eine weltweit einzigartige Energieumwandlungsanlage errichtet werden. Der Plan ist, dass dort ab 2013 Methangas aus Windstrom produziert werden kann. Dabei ist es kein Zufall, dass das System direkt neben einer Biogasanlage des Energielieferanten EWE stehen soll. Denn für die Methanproduktionsanlage wird neben dem Strom aus Windkraft auch Kohlendioxid (CO2) benötigt - und das fällt bei Biogasanlagen in großem Maßstab an. Die Produktion von Methan geschieht in zwei technischen Schritten. Zunächst wird der Windstrom zur Elektrolyse von Wasser und damit zur Produktion von Wasserstoffgas genutzt. Anschließend wird aus dem so gewonnenen Wasserstoff und dem gasförmigen CO2 Methan hergestellt. Am Ende der Reaktion entsteht neben dem Gas nur noch Wasser.

Schon seit zwei Jahren steht auf einem kleinen Fabrikhof in Stuttgart eine Pilotanlage - ein zweigeteilter Container, der 2,60 mal 2,50 mal 6,09 Meter groß ist. Diese kleine Demonstrationsanlage produziert pro Stunde aus Strom einen Kubikmeter synthetisches Erdgas, dessen Methananteil bei mindestens 80 Prozent liegt. Der benötigte Strom kommt hier aus einer Steckdose. Im ostfriesischen Werlte soll das notwendige Kohlendioxid von der Biogasanlage kommen. Die Anlage kann Überkapazitäten beim Windstrom abfangen. Da man Elektrizität mithilfe von Batterien nur in begrenzten Mengen und mit großen Verlusten speichern kann, könnte die Herstellung von Methan als Zwischenspeicherung von Energie dienen. Es kann problemlos in die vorhandene Erdgasinfrastruktur eingespeist und auch in Gasspeichern verlustfrei eingelagert werden.

The Japanese Plan Offshore Wind Farm

Off the coast of Fukushima, the Japanese Agency for Natural Resources and Energy plans to construct a wind farm. An official from the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy said: ”Building wind power turbines on land would be more difficult, because of the problems of noise pollution and city planning regulations”. That actually surprised me a little, due to the fact that setting up wind turbines offshore is more difficult technically.

The $261 million USD funding for this will be earmarked from a special extra budget which is to help rebuild the disaster stricken area, and the Japanese Agency for Natural Resources and Energy says that this wind farm is part of the reconstruction. The wind farm is envisioned as six 2-MW turbines that float offshore and it is hoped to be commissioned in 2015.

The Fukushima disaster has sparked widespread fear of nuclear power plants in Japan. (Plus, wind turbines did quite well throughout the earthquakes and tsunami.)

The government expects the country’s major wind turbine makers (such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Fuji Heavy Industries, and Japan Steel Works) will take part, he added.

The Fukushima power plant that was shut down due to the disaster had a generation capacity of 4.7 GW, which is enough to power 1,424,000 homes. In other words, that many homes relied on it if it operated at full capacity, so now that has to be replaced with other types of power plants because Japan does not plan to construct any more nuclear power plants for now.

Electricity has to be conserved due to a lack of electricity generation capacity and solar power plants are being constructed to compensate for this. One example of these efforts is a 7,000 kW photovoltaic solar power plant that was constructed last month by TEPCO.

The person from the Agency for Natural Resources and energy said that he hopes Mitsubishi Heavy, Fuji Heavy, and Japan Steel Works will take part in the project.

wie ein Börsenbrief wie ActienBörse auf so einen Gewinnsprung kommt?
Ich mein, Nordex sagt selber aus, dass sie abermals mit den Preisen runter müssen haben, weil sie sonst überhaupt keine Aufträge mehr bekommen haben.

Jetzt fällt  dieses Jahr schon ein wahrscheinlicher Verlust lt Richterichs Aussage vom 14.11.2011 an, was soll denn da besser werden in 2012, wenn sie bei den AE von 2011 noch weiter unter mussten mit den Preisen?

Das wird mit Sicherheit nicht gut enden...

Ich mein, das sieht man doch auch an den gemeldeten Zahlen, dass da was im groben liegt.

Installationen von    889 Megawatt auf 970 Megawatt geklettert und ebenfalls eine Umsatz und Gewinnwarnung  raus gegeben.
Den Umsatz gesenkt lt. Richterich am 14.11.2011 von 1 Milliarde auf 920 Millionen.

Das heisst um 9% mehr installiert und um 8% weniger Umsatz....hmmmm
Naja, bedeutet wohl das, was ich hier schon lange prophezeit habe...die Preise und damit die Margen sind immer noch am fallen.
Und scheinbar kann man das mit der geringen Auslastung , welche  Nordex im Moment hat, trotz neu und teurer Fließbandfertigung nicht ausgleichen.

Auch der grösste Teil der Einsparungen dürfte sich  wohl bereits in 2011 nieder geschlagen haben, da dieser ja im November angeschlossen war.



Rechnet man die Serviceleistungen mal raus, welche ca. bei 8% liegen, kommt man pro installierte MW auf 870 000 € ..da hat man sich erheblich weit entfernt von der Mille. pro MW
