KEY HIGHLIGHTS:
Recently introduced solutions in Novatel Wireless’ M2M portfolio, including the MiFi® Powered™ SA 2100 and MT 3060 mobile tracking device, have experienced an increase in customer adoption with anchor development partners. To further enhance its value-add in strategic vertical segments and drive recurring revenue, Novatel Wireless’ portfolio also includes its cloud hosted N4A™ Device Manager, which incorporates advanced diagnostics and integrated telematics features.
The new business has been secured with leading M2M service providers in targeted market segments. These segments include after-market telematics for a range of leading edge applications such as Usage Based Insurance (UBI) with the MT 3060, commercial telematics including fleet management with the SA 2100 and MT 4100, and RMAC leveraging Novatel Wireless’ new M2M platforms.
After-market telematics orders are also accompanied by bookings for licenses of Novatel Wireless’ N4A Device Manager software under which Novatel Wireless will host the management of field devices for an annual license fee.
Although some shipments began in Q1 2014, the Company currently anticipates that they will accelerate through the year and into Q1 2015 after the completion of any required software integration or product technical acceptance.
Peter Leparulo, CEO, Novatel Wireless, said: “Novatel Wireless’ target markets represent areas of significant growth opportunity for the company. As we continue to execute on our multiple-vertical market approach, we will launch M2M solutions combining leading hardware design with integrated software support tailored to specific market needs. We look forward to continuing to drive forward innovation in the M2M space that will meet and exceed customer demands.”
In the recent conference call from the new management team about the changes be made and what they have done since taking over the reins of the company:
1. CEO Alex plans on taking direct action in the near-term to help unlock the potential that he sees at NVTL.
2. CEO Alex, CFO Tom and COO Slim (The Team) have begun the process of integrating and consolidating the company's mobile Computing and M2M businesses in to one, now called The Internet of Things (IoT). (my note: smart move from a marketing standpoint, IoT = buzzword)
3. The Team has resolved the supply problems that were said to have plagued earnings the last couple of quarters.
5. The Team has made product changes that will sequentially improve margins through the first half of 2015.
6. It appears a significant effort was put forth to include as many charges and writes offs as possible in the 2nd quarter, to include; restructuring costs, real estate, inventory, litigation settlements, bonuses, depreciation and amortizations of intangibles. (or as I like to say, Taking Out the Trash)
7. The Team is currently negotiating with several lenders to establish a line of revolving credit as opposed to the registration of $75,000,000 in new shares to raise capital.
8.. There is now a general consensus and effort put forth to grow NVTL products on a GLOBAL scale.

Markman Hearing is Sept 9, 2014. Could be an awesome day for NVTL and its shareholders.
As interest in insurance telematics solutions expands from both insurers and those they insure, the role of aftermarket OnBoard Diagnostics solutions cannot be underestimated as a gating factor for industry growth. In fact, the number of subscribers to OnBoard Diagnostics (OBD) aftermarket telematics solutions is expected to increase from 9.5 million in 2014 to 117.8 million in 2019 according to a recent ABI report.

The FCC reports one-third of all Americans --100 million people -- do not have broadband at home. As more schools integrate digital and web-based learning programs and tools into the classroom, those students without home Internet access are finding themselves part of a growing digital divide. Student access to the Internet outside of school is a growing concern among 46 percent of district technology leaders who say it is one of the most challenging issues they face today, according to a Project Tomorrow report.
To ensure secure connectivity anywhere outside the classroom and not just at home, schools issue the Kajeet SmartSpot solution, a portable MiFi(R) mobile hotspot by Novatel Wireless combined with the innovative Sentinel(R) cloud portal, providing customizable filtered Internet access to keep students focused on school work and provide educational connectivity.
According to a December 2014 report from Micro Market Monitor, the KSA IoT and M2M communication market is estimated to grow from $4.88B in 2014 to $16.01B by 2019, at a CAGR of 26%. The main drivers for growth in the region are recent infrastructure developments and government regulation programs, including an increase in LTE deployments. The areas that will see the most growth are in the telematics verticals, particularly transportation and automotive segments and the telemetry verticals, including smart cities, video surveillance, and digital signage. The MiFi Powered SA 2100 LTE Gateway is an ideal turnkey solution with an open platform that is well-suited for these applications, in addition to other specialized solutions in the portfolio.
One of the major challenges the region faces with M2M is fragmentation and a portfolio selection from leading IoT companies with strict quality standards and complete solution ownership. The ability to offer vertical-specific solutions that work seamlessly across a range of applications with flexibility, scalability, turnkey cloud services and compatibility with service provider platforms is a critical competitive advantage which Novatel Wireless offers NOMD and their customers.
"The MiFi brand of M2M and IoT solutions perfectly complements our offering and we are excited to provide these premium solutions to our valued customers and partners," said, Mohammed Alkhushail, CEO of NOMD. "Novatel Wireless is widely regarded in the region as a vertically aligned industry IoT leader, that has a reputation for high-quality standards and a proven track record for products that perform reliably in the area's environmental landscape. With this addition to our portfolio, NOMD will ensure our customers can have the confidence to deploy best-of-breed IoT and M2M solutions for almost any requirement, quickly and easily."
"NOMD has an excellent presence in the Kingdom and has impressed the channel as a reliable solutions and logistics partner for many years, which is why we selected them as a strategic partner in the region," said Slim Souissi, President and COO of Novatel Wireless. "This partnership builds on our strategy to further increase our leadership in the Middle East while offering NOMD customers and partners new opportunities to diversify and increase their revenue streams through the delivery of our specialized IoT portfolio."
Novatel Wireless has a solid reputation for delivering high-quality IoT solutions in the Middle East. The company delivered connected vehicle solutions in partnership with Abdul Latif Jameel Co. Ltd. (ALJ), the sole distributor of Toyota, Lexus and Daihatsu vehicles in Saudi Arabia, mobile broadband USB modems with Saudi Telecom Company (STC), and the MiFi brand of mobile hotspots with Zain. Most recently, Novatel Wireless announced a distribution agreement with Server Corner Globaltech, servicing the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar.

When asked for an update on the Markman hearing, the response I received yesterday 12/11/14 from Novatel's IR was,
"We were very pleased with the outcome of the Markman hearing and felt the claims interpretation rulings all benefited our position.
That being said, the litigation is a lengthy process and we remain optimistic about the outcome."
