Telkom secures USD450 million loans from local banks
The Jakarta Post reports that the country’s largest telecoms company by valuation, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), is looking to secure fresh loans worth IDR4 trillion (USD450 million) from state banks Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) to finance its capital expenditure plans. Telkom finance director Sudiro Asno told the paper his firm was looking to secure IDR3 trillion from BRI and IDR1 trillion from BNI under the plan. ‘We will use the loans for CAPEX, but it will be possible also to acquire a company,’ Sudiro added. The loans each have a term of five years and the telco plans to formally sign the loan agreement on 13 October, he said.
