PRESS RELEASE

MatchNet® plc Reports Results for Second Quarter 2003
Subscriptions Drive 143% Revenue Growth Over 2002 Period

LOS ANGELES, CA – (September 1, 2003) – MatchNet plc (MHJG: Frankfurt Stock
Exchange – Prime Standard), one of the largest providers of online personals
worldwide, today reported results for the three and six month periods ending
June 30, 2003.

Total revenues for Q2 2003 were $8,725,666, an increase of 143%, compared to
$3,585,068 in Q2 2002. For the first half of 2003, total revenues were
$16,087,099, an increase of 106%, compared to $7,800,731 for the first half of
2002. Revenue growth was primarily a result of increases in membership due to
increased marketing efforts as well as advances in technology and added website
features implemented at the end of 2002.

Operating expenses were $3,668,234 in Q2 2003, or 42% of revenues compared to
$2,155,200, or 60% of revenues in Q2 2002.  For the first half of 2003,
operating expenses were $6,766,737 or 42% of revenues compared to $4,263,362,
or 55% of revenues in the first half of 2002.

EBITDA(1) was ($237,654) in Q2 2003 compared to $65,160 in Q2 2002. For the
first half of 2003, EBITDA was ($137,814) compared to $1,158,327 for the first
half of 2002. The decline is primarily due to an intentional increase in
marketing expenditures aimed at increasing market share.

According to Nielsen//NetRatings, MatchNet's combined online personals
properties had a unique audience from home and work of nearly 4.4 million in
June 2003, more than both Match.com with 4.3 million and Yahoo! Personals with
4.1 million.

“Based on the numbers of singles using online personals worldwide, it is clear
that there is a tremendous opportunity to grow our business by maximizing our
marketing expenditures in order for MatchNet’s properties to become recognized
brands,” stated Joe Shapira, MatchNet’s Chairman and CEO.

“Since the beginning of the year, we have taken steps to position the Company
for the rapid growth inherent in the online personals industry.  We expanded
our headquarters, increased the size and capability of our IT department, and
recently made several key executive appointments,” continued Shapira.

Net loss in Q2 2003 was ($611,560) compared with net income of $54,353 in Q2
2002. The net loss for the quarter includes non-cash depreciation and
amortisation charges of $392,539 in Q2 2003 and $222,470 in Q2 2002.  Net loss
