Wir hatten ja schon in unserer letzten Ausgabe über die Gerüchte einer Privatplatzierung bei Planktos berichtet. Gestern Nacht war es nun soweit. Planktos konnte eine Privatplatzierung in Höhe von bis zu 2 Millionen USD vermelden. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine direkte Platzierung von 1 USD pro Aktie. Die erste Million hat Planktos bereits erhalten.
Das Geld soll zum einen für die erste Fahrt der Weatherbird II genutzt werden und zum anderen um die erste Pflanzphase der Aufforstungsprojekte in Ungarn zu beenden.

Planktos Corp. Announces Private Placement Funding

Planktos Corp. (OTCBB:PLKT) is pleased to announce that it has secured private placement funding of up to $2,000,000. The Company has recently received $1,100,000 in funding and anticipates receiving the remainder of the $2,000,000 shortly.

The financing is in the form of a direct private placement at $1.00 per share.

Of the $2M, $1.4M is slated to begin the first voyage of the RV Weatherbird II and $600,000 to complete the first-stage planting in Hungary by Planktos’ subsidiary KlimaFa.

During its initial voyage, the Weatherbird II will be engaging in an ambitious project to begin restoring the ocean's ecosystem and in the process generating revenues through the creation of valuable carbon credits.

It is further anticipated that Planktos' majority-owned KlimaFa subsidiary will also begin to generate carbon credits later this year through the planting of indigenous trees in the national forests of Hungary.

Planktos Corp. will soon be providing regular progress updates on the status of these two world-class projects.

Im Meer
In den letzten 30 Jahren ging die natürlich „Eisendüngung“ des Meeres, durch sehr trockene, eisenstaubhaltige Winde, nachweisbar um bis zu 30% zurück. Dies führte dazu, dass auch der natürliche Planktonanteil in den Weltmeeren um ca. 10% abnahm. Plankton hat die Eigenschaft, CO2 aufzunehmen und diesen für die Photosynthese zu verwenden. Der Kohlenstoffanteil wird in den Zellen gebunden. Stirbt das Plankton ab, sinkt es auf den Meeresgrund.
Da verschiedene Forschungsergebnisse zeigen, dass schon das Hinzufügen von kleinsten Mengen Eisens das Wachstum von Plankton stark anregen kann, möchte Planktos nun durch die sogenannte „Eisendüngung“ feinsten Eisenstaub in die Meere dieser Welt einbringen und so das Wachstum des Planktons anregen. Schon eine Tonne im Meer ausgebrachten Eisenstaubs könnte eine so große Zunahme von Plankton erzeugen, dass damit tausend Tonnen CO2 aufgenommen werden könnten.

Die Einbringung des Eisenstaubs soll mit dem firmeneigenen Forschungsschiff Weatherbird II geschehen. Noch für diesen Herbst ist der Start des ersten der 6 Pilotprojekte geplant. Dr. Noel Brown, Planktos Science Advisory Board Chairman, sagte dazu: “The science intensive Planktos pilot projects seek to help answer the questions about whether we can reverse ocean ecosystem collapse. We intend to do this by demonstrating the commercial viability of the 20 years and $100 million worth of publicly funded research that has gone into what the company calls ocean iron micronutrient replenishment. These efforts will help Planktos ocean restoration work to qualify as a producer of carbon offsets in the many ecosystem service markets of the European Union, Americas, and Asia.”

Zu Land
Auch an Land arbeitet Planktos an ehrgeizigen Projekten zur Reduzierung des CO2 Anteils. Zusammen mit seiner Tochtergesellschaft KlimaFA, Ltd. möchte man in Ungarn im großen Stile heimische Mischwälder wieder herstellen. Innerhalb der nächsten 10 Jahre sollen so 100.000 Hektar entstehen.

Für dieses Projekt konnten vor kurzem sehr große Erfolge verbucht werden. Niemand anderes als der Vatikan wird wohl der erste klimaneutrale Staat dieser Erde werden. Mit Hilfe von KlimaFa soll ein „Vatikan-Klimawald“ in Ungarns Bükk-Nationalpark enstehen und damit die Emissionsausgleichsleistungen, zunächst für das Jahr 2007, erbracht werden.
Eminenz Kardinal Paul Poupard, Vorsitzender des päpstlichen Kollegiums für Kultur, sagte zu dieser Kooperation: “I am honoured to receive this donation from the leaders of Planktos-KlimaFa. This donation means an entire section of a national park in central Europe will be reforested.  In this way, the Vatican will do its small part in contributing to the elimination of polluting emissions from CO2 which is threatening the survival of this planet”“We view this as an opportunity to contribute to the betterment of the world our children will inherit.”

Und auch der Computerhändler DELL wird zukünftig mit Planktos zusammenarbeiten. Planktos wird DELL bei seiner „Plant a Tree For Me“ Kampagne unterstützen. Durch Spenden beim Kauf eines neuen Computers wird DELL seinen Kunden die Möglichkeit bieten die damit entstehenden Umweltbelastungen auszugleichen.

Management

er CEO  des Unternehmens ist Russ George. Er war zuvor schon in Managementpositionen in verschiedenen Unternehmen in den USA und Kanada tätig, dort war er unter anderem schon an Wiederaufforstungsprojekten beteiligt.
Der CFO Bill Coleman war zuvor als Business-Development-Direktor für Intertox, Inc. in Seattle tätig. In den Jahren 2003-2005 war er der Direktor der Earth Assets Group (EAG), eines von ihm gegründeten  ökologischen Asset Management Informations- und Beratungsunternehmens.
Die Führungsspitze wird durch Spezialisten aus nahezu allen Bereichen ergänzt, dazu zählen unter anderem Erziehungs- und Kommunikationskoordinatoren, Umweltökonome, maritime Biologen, Forscher, Programmanager, Klimatologen, Techniker, IT-Spezialisten sowie Ingenieure.

Mit der gestern verkündeten Privatplatzierung kann die Planktos Corporation (WKN: A0MMJV / ISIN: US72706H1086) ihre avisierten Ziele weiter voran treiben. Eine Privatplatzierung steht bekanntlich auch immer für das Vertrauen, das die Investoren in ein Unternehmen setzen.
Mit den weiteren, bekannten Partnern wie dem Vatikan oder auch DELL kann Planktos seine Ambitionen nun auch in die Tat umsetzten. Schon in Kürze wird die erste Testphase zur See beginnen.
