Maxim Group initiates coverage on MannKind (NASDAQ: MNKD) with a Buy rating and a price target of $4.00.
Analyst Jason Kolbert said Afrezza could shift the paradigm in diabetes management and with the inhalable insulin now in the hands of a very capable management team, the focus is on execution.
"In the U.S., a conservative 5% share of the insulin market is a $350M opportunity," Kolbert commented. "At the current ~$120M market capitalization there is significant upside, in our view."

Die MannKind Corporation meldete im zweiten Quartal einen Verlust von 35 Cent. Dies ist schlimmer als die Verluste pro Aktie von 33 Cent aus der gleichen Zeit im vergangenen Jahr. Es kam auch nicht über die Wall Street Verluste pro Aktie Schätzung von 25 Cent für das Quartal zu kommen.
Die Umsatzerlöse der MannKind Corporation im zweiten Quartal des Jahres beliefen sich auf 2,16 Millionen US-Dollar. Ertragsdaten ab dem zweiten Quartal des Vorjahres sind nicht verfügbar. Analysten erwarteten, dass das Unternehmen einen Umsatz von $ 2,75 Millionen für das zweite Quartal 2017 melde.
Während die Umsatz- und Ertragslage der MannKind Corporation für das zweite Quartal 2017 der MNKD-Aktie nicht zugute kam, steigen die Verkäufe ihres Medikaments Afrezza auf . Das Unternehmen stellt fest, dass der Nettoumsatz um 29% gestiegen ist und der Bruttoumsatz im Vergleich zum ersten Quartal 2017 um 60% gestiegen ist. Der Umsatz von Afrezza hat ebenfalls einen Umsatz von 1,5 Millionen US-Dollar für das Quartal erzielt.
Die MannKind Corporation meldete im zweiten Quartal einen Nettoverlust von 35,34 Millionen US-Dollar. Dies ist ein größerer Nettoverlust als die 29,96 Millionen Dollar, die das Unternehmen im selben Zeitraum des Vorjahres gemeldet hat.

Die MannKind Corporation stellt auch fest, dass es geplant ist, bis Ende des Jahres eine neue Medikamentenanwendung einzureichen. Dies wird für die Förderung der Treprostinil-Technosphäre für die Behandlung der pulmonalen arteriellen Hypertonie.
Die trockene Pulverformulierungstechnologie von MannKind ermöglicht die pulmonale Abgabe von therapeutischen Mitteln durch orale Inhalation.
