von 70,--...war mal eine Empfehlung eines Boersenbriefes...ich habe sie dann einfach stehen lassen...die 45 sind irgenwann sicherlich realistisch, ist eine sehr solide Fa....wobei die zum Schuldenabbau Teile der Säulen veräussern mussten....

  Das amerikanische Biotechnologie-Unternehmen Biogen Idec Inc. und der größte irische Pharmakonzern Elan Corp. plc reichten bei der EU-Gesundheitsbehörde einen Zulassungsantrag für ihr gemeinsam entwickeltes Multiple Sklerose-Medikament Antegren ein.
Antegren ist der erste Inhibitor in der neuen Wirkstoffklasse Selektive Adhäsions-Molekül-Inhibitoren (SAM-Inhibitoren). In den USA wurde bereits im Mai 2004 die Marktzulassung von Antegren gegen Multiple Sklerose, eine chronische Entzündungskrankheit des zentralen Nervensystems.

In London fielen die Aktien von Elan bisher um 1,3 Prozent und liegen aktuell bei 19,00 Euro.

Despite putting building plans on hold more than one year ago, Biogen Idec has given the green light to a lucrative new plant project in Hillerød
 
US-based biotech Biogen Idec has announced plans to begin construction on a new plant for the production of multiple sclerosis drugs in Hillerød. The construction project has been budgeted at DKK 2 billion (270 million euros), and is expected to create 200 new jobs once the factory opens in 2008. Daily newspaper Frederiksborg County News ran the story yesterday.

Just one year ago, similar building plans were postponed indefinitely, following Biogen's merger with Idec to become Biogen Idec. At the time, Idec was in the process of building a similar plant for the production of MS medicine in the United States, which put the brakes on Biogen's construction plans in Hillerød. Biogen had already purchased a sizable land lot in Hillerød for DKK 60.8 million (10 million euros) in 2001.

Biogen Idec is reportedly ready to resume its shelved building plans again. A new sclerosis drug, antigren, which the company is hoping to have approved in the US and Europe, appears so promising that Biogen Idec has decided to open the Hillerød plant anyway.

"We're aiming to build as quickly as possible. We have a budget of USD 340 million and have received a grant of another USD 50 million to get started," said Birgitte Thygesen, deputy director of Biogen Idec's Danish division.

Biogen Idec expects construction on the plant to be completed in 2007, and ready for commercial production in 2008


 

Positive News Flow Seen For Elan

According to Deutsche Bank, "News flow for Elan continues to look very robust over the next several months, with a number of key milestones on tap." Citing a recent update by management, Deutsche Bank predicted that the company's Antegren multiple sclerosis drug may win a priority review from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, "which would position the product for approval before year end." If the drug, which is being co-developed by Biogen IDEC (nasdaq: BIIB - news - people ), does win approval by year's end, Deutsche Bank said it would reconsider its price target for Elan stock. In addition, Deutsche Bank said that a European Union filing for a proposed Crohn's disease drug is "on track" and that the regulatory path in the U.S. for that treatment will be determined at a meeting with Food and Drug Administration representatives this summer. The research house also characterized Elan's Alzheimer's program as "an underappreciated (and largely forgotten) opportunity, in our view."

NEW YORK, June 28 (Reuters) - Irish drug maker Elan Corp. (Irish:ELN.I - News) and its U.S. partner, Biogen Idec (NasdaqNM:BIIB - News), said on Monday that their multiple sclerosis drug Antegren had been designated for priority review status by U.S. regulators.
Based on the designation, the drug makers said they now anticipate action by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on the experimental drug about six months from the submission date, rather than 10 months for a standard review

Biogen und Elan erhalten US-Zulassung für Tysabri (Antegren)

Das amerikanische Biotechnologie-Unternehmen Biogen Idec (Nachrichten) und der größte irische Pharmakonzern Elan Corp. (Nachrichten) erhielten von der US-Gesundheitsbehörde FDA die Marktzulassung für ihr gemeinsam entwickeltes Multiple Sklerose-Medikament Antegren.
Die Food and Drug Administration bestätigte die Zulassung des Präparats, nachdem das Methodist Hospital in Houston vorab über die Zulassung von Antegren berichtet hatte. Das Arzneimittel wurde ferner von Antegren in Tysabri umbenannt.

Der Antrag auf Marktzulassung in den USA zur Behandlung der chronischen Entzündungskrankheit des zentralen Nervensystems wurde im Mai 2004 eingereicht. Antegren ist der erste Inhibitor in der neuen Wirkstoffklasse Selektive Adhäsions-Molekül-Inhibitoren (SAM-Inhibitoren).

Gestern stiegen die Aktien von Biogen an der NASDAQ um 3,0 Prozent und gingen mit 58,73 Dollar aus dem Handel.

Gibt es da mehr als Tysabri?
Ich muß zugeben ich habe mich nie mit dem Unternehmen beschäftigt. Der Absturz war im Vergleich zu Biogen schon sehr extrem wobei Biogen Überleben nicht an einem Produkt hängt.
