"...The agreement will be discussed further at a Group of 20 meeting next month and comes just days before a meeting of leaders of G-7 countries that begins on Friday.
While the finance ministers leading the world’s most advanced economies might have lauded the deal, many experts are not so impressed and say the 15% minimum tax rate is not ambitious enough, and tricky to implement.
George Dibb, head of the Centre for Economic Justice at the London-based Institute for Public Policy Research, told CNBC “there are big questions around the level that we set this minimum tax at” .....
"Inflation may look like a problem that will go away, but is more likely to persist and lead to a crisis in the years ahead, according to a warning from Deutsche Bank economists.
In a forecast that is well outside the consensus from policymakers and Wall Street, Deutsche issued a dire warning that focusing on stimulus while dismissing inflation fears will prove to be a mistake if not in the near term then in 2023 and beyond...."

.."Now, the SEC is finally considering changing the rules of how stocks are priced and traded to stop exchanges from incentivizing brokers (nowadays, particularly retail trading brokerages that have seen an explosion of activity in the past couple of years).
The news has slammed shares of HFT market-makers including those of Virtu, the biggest electronic market-maker. Citadel, the hedge fund that has a separate market-making business that purchases order flow from Robinhood, also could be hurt by the new rules...."
A few Months ago we explained how Robinhood receives payment from Citadel and a handful of other major HFT market makers allowing them to front-run retail order flow and guarantee profits. In fact, one could argue that this relationship makes Robinhood a de facto subsidiary of Citadel.

1) Retail investors ignite the momentum, squeezing shorts out;
2) ...which grabs the attention of institutional/hedge funds, who then deploy leverage to spark the gamma squeeze meltup...
3) ...which further squeezes the shorts out...
4) ...enabling hedgies to implement shorts at much higher prices, slamming the stock lower...
5) ...setting the stage for the next retail-ignited squeeze.
Rinse... Repeat.

For the Global South – that is, the overwhelming majority of the planet – the G7 is largely irrelevant. What matters is the G20. China, the rising economic superpower, hails from the Global South, and is a leader in the G20. For all their internal troubles, EU players in the G7 – Germany, France and Italy – cannot afford to antagonize Beijing in economic, trade and investment terms.
Including Japan and special guests at Cornwall: tech powerhouse South Korea, and India and South Africa (both BRICS members), offered the dangling carrot of a possible extended membership.
Washington’s wishful thinking cum P.R. offensive boils down to selling itself as the primus inter pares of the West as a revitalized global leader..."
