Cultivation and Production Licences (source)
▪ Cultivation includes all steps up to, but not including, harvest.
▪ Production consists of harvest and placing in a container for the purpose of manufacture or research.
A licence does not allow for the cultivation or production of cannabis unless accompanied by an associated permit.
Once you have a licence, you can apply for a permit, which outlines the amounts and types of cannabis you can cultivate or produce.
A licence combined with a permit allows you to obtain cannabis material (such as equipment, seeds and nursery stock) and covers associated cultivation and production purposes.
Licences:
▪ Cultivation-only Licence
▪ Cultivation and Production Licence
Research Licences (source)
Cannabis research licences allow research into the horticultural and infrastructure aspects of cultivating and producing medicinal cannabis.
Medicinal cannabis licences can supply cannabis to holders of manufacture licences for the purposes of the development of drugs and medicines for use in clinical trials.
Both types of licence can supply cannabis to holders of manufacture licences for preliminary research on medicinal cannabis product development.
Licences:
▪ Cannabis Research Licence
▪ Medicinal Cannabis Research Licence
Manufacturing Licences (source)
You are required to hold both a manufacture licence and manufacture permit in order to manufacture medicinal cannabis products.
The purpose of the licence is to authorise specific 'manufacturing' activities that may be conducted and place conditions and obligations on the licencee.
The permit places limits on product types and quantities that may be manufactured by the licencee.
Licences:
▪ Medicinal Cannabis Manufacture Licence (cultivation and production of cannabis and cannabis resin)
▪ Manufacture Licence (extraction of cannabis and/or cannabis resin)
Import and Export Licences (import source)
An import licence allows importation of medical cannabis from other countries by demonstrating compliance with supply, storage, destruction, and record keeping requirements.
Export licences will allow for the export of cannabis to other countries.
Licences:
▪ Import Licence
▪ Export Licence (proposed)
AusCann's Licence News
▪ [23/02/2017] Government to Facilitate Faster Access to Medical Cannabis
AusCann intends to import high quality cannabis medicines from its partner Canopy Corporation.
They don't say they have an Import Licence, but they seem quite confident about importing. Maybe they have one or maybe they just think it will be easy.
▪ [05/05/2017] Medicinal Cannabis Licence Secured
AusCann were awarded an Australian medicinal cannabis licence which enables them to undertake medicinal cannabis cultivation operations within Australia.
This could be a Cultivation-Only Licence or a Cultivation and Production Licence.
▪ [11/07/2017] Auscann - Tasmanian Alkaloids Licences Secured
Tasmanian Alkaloids were granted a medicinal cannabis licence and a research and development licence.
The "medicinal cannabis licence" is almost certainly a Medicinal Cannabis Licence from the Manufacturing Licences section. The "research and development licence" is probably referring to the Research Licence of the same name.
▪ [09/08/2017] Australian Manufacturing Licence Granted
AusCann has been granted an Australian manufacturing licence authorising the manufacture and supply of medicinal cannabis.
This is a Medicinal Cannabis Licence from the Manufacturing Licences section. The same licence as Tasmanian Alkaloids has. I believe this licence is for AusCann's Western Australia facility.
In combination with the Company's existing cultivation licences, the recently granted manufacturing licence strongly positions AusCann with one of the first complete and fully Australians supply chains to provide medicinal cannabis products to patients.
This part leads me to believe the cultivation licence from May was actually a Cultivation and Production licence, otherwise the supply chain couldn't be complete.
▪ [07/12/2017] Final Operational Licence Now in Place
AusCann's strategic partner, Tasmanian Alkaloids has been granted a manufacturing licence.
The licence allows for the joint manufacture and supply of medical cannabis products in Australia.
Well, that's strange. I thought Tasmanian Alkaloids was granted this licence on 11/07/2017. I'm not sure what licence they got back then, perhaps just a mislabelled Manufacture Licence (non-medicinal). In any case, they clearly have a Medicinal Cannabis Manufacture Licence now, I think.
The licence completes AusCann's objective of becoming fully integrated across the medical cannabis supply chain in Australia.
Again, strange. I thought our supply chain was complete on 09/08/2017. In any case, now it is super complete, I think.
▪ [04/01/2018] Federal Government to Allow Cannabis Export
AusCann welcomes the Federal Government announcement today from Health Minister Greg Hunt to allow manufacturers cannabinoid medicines to be exported from Australia.
Since this law hasn't been passed (it's expected to be), we obviously don't have a licence. I expect we'll apply for and be granted one in the near future.
AusCann and Tasmanian Alkaloid's Licences
I think AusCann have these licences:
▪ Import and Export Licences > Import Licence
▪ Cultivation and Production Licences > Cultivation and Production Licence
I think Tasmanian Alkaloids have these licences:
▪ Research Licences > Medicinal Cannabis Research Licence
▪ Manufacturing Licences > Medicinal Cannabis Manufacture Licence
Please correct me if I made a mistake. In any case, I hope this helps
