PetroChina Company Limited (0857) official was cited by Bloomberg as saying that a US$2.8 billion Siberia-to-China pipeline jointly developed by its parent company, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and OAO Yukos Oil Co., Russia's biggest oil producer, will not be finished by its initial 2005 target. The primary reason is that Russian President Vladimir Putin considers a link to supply Japan instead.

CNPC and Yukos entered into an agreement in May, under which Yukos will supply 5.1 billion barrels annually to CNPC.

CNPC spokesperson Mao Zefeng declined to comment on the news when asked by Infocast.

LONDON/PEKING (dpa-AFX) - Der Energiekonzern PetroChina hat nach Presseangaben Interesse an Übernahmen im Ausland. Für die Abwicklung der Transaktionen habe der größte Öl- und Gasanbieter Chinas bereits die Citigroup engagiert, berichtet die "Financial Times" (FT, Dienstagausgabe) unter Berufung auf unternehmensnahe Kreise.

In dem Artikel heißt es weiter, PetroChina wolle bis zu fünf Milliarden US-Dollar investieren. Bei den potenziellen Übernahmekandidaten handele es sich um Übersee-Aktivitäten der mehrheitlich staatlichen Muttergesellschaft China Petroleum & Chemical (Sinopec) in Kasachstan, Venezuela, Peru sowie im Sudan.

Die Aktie von Sinopec startet in das neue Jahr mit einem Aufschlag von 1,25 Prozent. Mit 7,30 HKD schafft sie ein neues Allzeithoch. Wie der Nachrichtendienst der Stock Exchange mitteilte, hatte die Credit Suisse Group bereits am 21. Dezember 06 seine Beteiligung an dem Unternehmen um 0,6 Prozent auf 5,52 Prozent aufgestockt. Dazu wurden 926, 9 Mio. H - Shares aufgekauft.
Einen Tag später, am 22. Dezember, hatte JPMorgan Chase & Co 4,06 Mio. H - Shares zu einem Durchschnittspreis von 6,7 HKD gekauft. Damit wurde die Beteiligung um 0,3 Prozent auf 9,02 Prozent angehoben.

China's Sinopec crude processing meets target in 2006

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (SNP), better known as Sinopec, said Thursday it processed 4.56% more of crude oil last year than in 2005, thanks to strong domestic demand for fuel and chemical products.
Sinopec, the largest refiner in Asia by capacity, processed 146.32 million metric tons of crude oil in 2006, meeting the target of 146 million tons it set for the year, according to a post on the company's Web site.
It processed 139.94 million tons of crude oil in 2005.
Sinopec last year sold 111.68 million tons of oil products domestically, such as gasoline and diesel, up 6.81% from 104.56 million tons in 2005.
Late last year, Sinopec received a CNY5 billion state subsidy to compensate for low domestic oil product prices. But the company said the subsidy wouldn't offset the operating losses of its refineries last year due to high crude costs.
In order to better control crude costs, Sinopec has been aggressively expanding its upstream operation in recent years to supply more feedstock to its own refineries.
In 2006, it produced 2.28% more of crude oil to 285.19 million barrels, but fell short of the target of 291.7 million barrels it set for the year. It produced 278.82 million barrels of crude in 2005.
Natural gas production rose a sharp 15.60% to 256.54 billion cubic feet in 2006, beating its target of 247.17 billion cubic feet. It produced 221.92 billion cubic feet of gas in 2005.
In 2006, it produced 6.16 million tons of ethylene, up 15.87% from 5.32 million tons in a year earlier, through its 55.56%-owned Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co. (SHI), the country's largest ethylene producer by capacity.
It had set a production target of 5.9 million tons of ethylene for last year.

Asia Investor - China Petroleum & Chemical spekulativer Kauf

Detmold (aktiencheck.de AG) - Die Experten von "Asia Investor" empfehlen die Aktie von China Petroleum & Chemical (ISIN CN0005789556/ WKN 578955) zum spekulativen Kauf.

Das Unternehmen habe 66% Gewinnwachstum im 1. Halbjahr gemeldet. Die als Sinopec bekannte Gesellschaft habe deutlich von der erhöhten Nachfrage nach Benzin in China profitiert. Außerdem hätten die Kosten für den Einkauf von Rohöl im 1. Halbjahr klar unter denen gelegen, die im Vorjahr dafür angefallen seien. So habe der Gewinn von 21,9 Mrd. CNY (Chinesischer Yuan) auf 36,2 Mrd. CNY vergrößert werden können. Damit habe Sinopec besser abgeschnitten, als es die Börse im Vorfeld der Präsentation erwartet habe.

Der inzwischen erneut angestiegene Ölpreis mache allerdings etwas Probleme. Sinopec sei seitens der Regierung angehalten, für eine genügende Benzinversorgung zu einem streng regulierten Preis zu sorgen. Der Ölpreis sei in den vergangenen Monaten jedoch sukzessive geklettert und habe inzwischen schon wieder ein sehr hohes Niveau erreicht, vor allem im Vergleich zum Rohölpreis im 2. Halbjahr 2006. Obwohl das Halbjahresergebnis sehr gut ausgefallen sei, könne man erste Effekte einer schrumpfenden Marge schon in den Zahlen zum 2. Quartal erkennen. Die große Frage sei nun: Wie werde sich der Ölpreis im 2. Halbjahr weiter entwickeln?

Die Charttechnik stimme hoffnungsvoll. Der seit Anfang des Jahres bestehende Aufwärtstrend beim Ölpreis sei vor wenigen Tagen nach unten durchbrochen worden. Es sei nun sehr wahrscheinlich, dass das erreichte Niveau wenigstens gehalten werden könne. Weitergehende Rücksetzer halte man auch für möglich. Dies gelte zumindest für die nächsten zwei bis drei Monate. Dann werde ausschlaggebend sein, wie kalt es in der Wintersaison auf der Nordhalbkugel werde. Zunächst einmal zähle jedoch das Top beim Ölpreis und dies werde in den kommenden Tagen und Wochen für Entlastung bei Sinopec sorgen.

Da der Kurs des Unternehmens seinen Aufwärtstrend kürzlich bestätigt und den kurzfristigen Abwärtstrend nach oben durchbrochen hat, empfehlen die Experten von "Asia Investor" bei der Aktie von China Petroleum & Chemical den Kauf einer spekulativen Position. Online Purchasing System Hit A New Record High

Sinopec Corp’s Online Purchasing System has reached a new record high in 2007 in terms of its total transaction value. Throughout the year of 2007, the total online purchasing value has reached RMB 145.5 billion yuan, which was RMB 32.5 billion yuan up from that in 2006, representing a growth of 29%. Besides, it has launched a range of online services, such as purchasing by invitation to bids, purchase of imports and purchase of logistic services, etc.

 

The online purchasing value reached another new high

 

As at the end of 2007, Sinopec Corp has realized an accumulated online purchasing value of RMB 433.6 billion yuan, thereby cutting down its purchasing costs by RMB 15.9 billion yuan. Its online purchasing values in both 2006 and 2007 exceeded RMB 100 billion yuan, by reaching RMB 113 billion and RMB 145.5 billion respectively. To be more specific, up to 92% of its transactions were closed online; whilst a diversity of its materials, such as raw chemicals and auxiliary chemicals, steel products, coal and electromechanical equipment, as well as other bulky, import and general-purpose materials have all been subjected to online purchasing.

 

Online purchasing practices have been improved constantly

 

Sinopec Corp has followed out a Routine Conference System for Online Purchasing Work, intensified its supervision and administration of online purchasing practices, regularly organized personnel to receive trainings in a centralized way and enhance their online transacting skills, and improved its evaluation of online purchasing work, as well as having conferred bonuses and meted out punishments according to its personnel’s working performance.

 

The e-commerce system has continued to better and upgrade its functions

 

Sinopec Corp has stuck to its principle of “uniform standards in six respects” to govern its online flow of purchasing by invitation to bids, and put into force this flow, which comprises publication of bid information, automatic picking of experts, opening of bids, and scoring as well as other important links all of which can be operated online. Thus far, bids from totally 27 enterprises were handled online, constituting 79.2% of the total bids entered to Sinopec Corp. This has helped Sinopec Corp cut down its purchasing funds by up to 20.3%.

 

The online flow of imports purchasing has also been put into operation. So far, Sinopec Corp has been able to conduct online purchasing of 9 major categories (114 varieties) of imports ranging from steel products and chemicals to equipment items; and totally 62 suppliers specialized in foreign trade have closed online deals with Sinopec Corp. On top of that, the competing quotation function has been further bettered.

 

As Sinopec Corp speeds up its pace in pursuing internationalization, and its online purchasing practices are being constantly improved, whilst the functions and operation flow of its online purchasing system have been bettered from day to day, Sinopec Corp’s e-commerce network of material purchasing is playing a rather important, unique and irreplaceable role. At large, Sinopec Corp has embraced a new era of online purchasing as far as its purchase of materials is concerned.
