9 MONATSBERICHT 05

BellSouth signs Agreement with SES AMERICOM for IPTV Trial

PRINCETON, NJ – January 3, 2006 – SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges: SESG), announced today that BellSouth (NYSE: BLS) has signed an agreement to trial IP PRIME™, a centralized, satellite-centric video distribution solution that enables telcos to bundle and distribute hundreds of standard and HD television programming channels with voice and broadband services.

SES AMERICOM will provide BellSouth with video aggregation, encoding, monitoring, and transport over the IP PRIME platform, which is based at the SES AMERICOM IPTV Broadcast Center in Vernon Valley, New Jersey. The IPTV solution will be delivered over the AMC-9 satellite. The open architecture of IP PRIME enables plug-and-play integration with a broad range of infrastructure platforms, including Microsoft IPTV middleware and conditional access systems, which are being tested by BellSouth.

BellSouth initiated a technical trial of IPTV technology in conjunction with Microsoft in 2005 and plans to expand it to market trial participants using the additional MPEG4 encoded programming channels delivered by IP Prime.

“SES AMERICOM enables us to make additional content available to BellSouth’s IPTV trial participants as we continue our analysis of this technology,” said Don Granger, president of BellSouth Entertainment.

“We look forward to working with BellSouth as it further tests IPTV through this trial. SES AMERICOM’s IP PRIME has been designed to serve all segments of the burgeoning telco TV market,” said Bryan McGuirk, president of Media Solutions for SES AMERICOM.<!--EndFragment-->

SES GLOBAL AFRICA COMPLETES FIRST SUCCESSFUL YEAR
                           IN AFRICAN BUSINESS

Significant number of customer contracts on ASTRA satellites /
Capacity used for broadband and telecommunications services

SES  ASTRA,  an  SES  GLOBAL  company  (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock
Exchange:  SESG),  has  announced  that  SES GLOBAL AFRICA has successfully
extended  its  services  into  the African continent in 2005. By the end of
last  year,  eight  out  of 41 commercially available transponders into the
African  continent  have  contributed  to 2005 group revenues, bringing the
utilisation to 20 per cent by year-end.
SES  operations  in  Africa  comprise 33 transponders utilising the African
beam  of  the ASTRA 4A satellite at the orbital position 37.5° West as well
as  eight  steerable  Ku-band transponders on the ASTRA 2B satellite at the
orbital  position  28.2°  East.  On  these  satellites,  SES  GLOBAL AFRICA
successfully  concluded contracts with the telecommunications and satellite
services  providers GS Telecom, Skyvision, DCC Satellite & Network Nigeria,
Accelon,  Emperion  and  Unitel  Hellas as well as with SES AMERICOM. Along
with  its partner Industrial Development Cooperation (IDC) of South Africa,
SES  is  shareholder  in  Accelon  which  has  commenced offering satellite
solutions to Western Africa using the ASTRA 2B African capacity.

“We  are  proud  and  satisfied that our ASTRA 4A satellite is a tremendous
success in its first year of commercial use and that further demand for our
offer is strong”, says Alexander Oudendijk, Senior Vice President and Chief
Commercial  Officer  of  SES  ASTRA. “By closing several important customer
contracts,  ASTRA  4A  has become the satellite of choice for broadband and
telecommunication operators across many African countries.”

Commercial  operation  of  ASTRA  4A  commenced  during  June  2005. In the
Americas,  ASTRA  4A is known as AMC-12. ASTRA 4A has a high-powered C band
payload  which  allows  the  use  of  smaller  terminals  and  greater data
throughput,  making  it  ideally  suited  to  data,  telecommunications and
broadcast applications. ASTRA 4A is able to reach Africa, Europe, and North
and  South  America  from uplinks located in any of these continents due to
its on board frequency switching matrix.

SES ASTRA to offer new Digital TV Services
Satellite operator builds digital infrastructure for Free-TV, Pay-TV and interactive services / Open for all broadcasters / Basis for broad digital offer
SES ASTRA, a SES GLOBAL company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG), enhances its digital services and offers an infrastructure for Free-TV, Pay-TV and additional interactive services. The new offer will be open to all broadcasters and ease the development of digital services on an open technological basis. The offer will consist of playout services, encryption of programme signals, smart card distribution for access and customer relations management. With this offer, TV households will be able to use a future-proof solution for digital TV. For playout and technical services, SES ASTRA will rely on its existing subsidiary ASTRA Platform Services (APS) in Unterföhring near Munich whilst logistics, distribution of smart cards and customer services will be handled by a new SES ASTRA affiliate.

“By building up a new service package, we consistently follow our strategy to improve our portfolio as a technical service provider for TV channels and focus their activities on digitization”, said Ferdinand Kayser, President and CEO of SES ASTRA. “The infrastructure that we offer is completely open for everybody, neutral and non-discriminatory. What we are doing will help all interested Free- and Pay-TV channels to enter the digital age, enabling the distribution of new programmes and programme packages and therefore fostering competition. This is how we will provide an important stimulus for the development of digital TV in Germany and further evidence of the role of the satellite as a technical pioneer.”

TV-households will be able to take advantage of the digital offer if they have a satellite dish, a satellite receiver together with an appropriate smart card and if they undertake a simple one-time registration. A receiver is suitable if it either already handles a suitable smart card or can be upgraded to handle such a smart card through an open interface (Common Interface). In order to use the service, users will be charged a low monthly digital flat rate to cover the technical cost of operating the digital infrastructure.

SES ASTRA signs Second Contract with GlobeCast
Additional capacity to serve UK market / First contract signed last year
SES ASTRA, an SES GLOBAL company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG), has signed a second capacity agreement with GlobeCast, an international content management and delivery enterprise. “Serving the dynamic and rapidly expanding UK market is of highest importance for us”, said Alexander Oudendijk, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of SES ASTRA. "When one of the world’s leading satellite services providers decides to expand its business relationship with us, there can be no greater recommendation for the quality and strength of our service.”

“The UK is one of the most important satellite television markets in the world and thanks to our customers’ continued growth in this sector we have had to secure additional capacity”, said Juliet Bayliss, GlobeCast UK’s Director for Broadcast Services. “After the success of our first transponder deal with SES ASTRA, the company was the natural choice when we needed to increase our transmission capacity.”

AMERICOM GOVERNMENT SERVICES ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT WITH XTAR TO OFFER X-BAND SATELLITE SERVICE
Alliance To Provide More Choice For AGS DOD Customers
March 2nd, 2006 – Washington, DC – AMERICOM GOVERNMENT SERVICES, Inc. (AGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of SES AMERICOM, today announced an agreement with XTAR, LLC making high powered commercial X-band service available to AGS’ numerous customers across the U.S. Department of Defense, other agencies and users. XTAR, a joint venture between Loral Space & Communications (NASDAQ: LORL) and HISDESAT, operates the XTAR-EUR satellite and is headquartered in Rockville, Maryland.

“We’re delighted to expand the reach of XTAR services through an agreement with an experienced government SATCOM services partner such as AGS,” said Denis Curtin, chief operating officer, XTAR LLC. “Working with companies like AGS is an integral part of our strategy to aggressively pursue opportunities with U.S. and Allied government entities through direct and indirect channels.”

XTAR-EUR is a powerful all X-band satellite stationed at 29 degrees East longitude. The satellite provides coverage from Eastern Brazil and the Atlantic Ocean, across all of Europe, Africa and the Middle East to as far east as Singapore. With the imminent launch of XTAR-LANT, XTAR’s eight transponder payload on SPAINSAT, the company’s coverage area will expand to include portions of the United States and the South American and African continents. Both satellites carry a number of steerable spot beams that can be positioned anywhere within each satellite’s footprint.

“Adding X-band services to our portfolio of satcom solutions is something we’re very pleased to do through our alliance with XTAR,” said David Helfgott, CEO of AMERICOM GOVERNMENT SERVICES. “Making X-band capacity available immediately is just the first step – we will also be uplinking to the XTAR satellite and delivering X-band services through AMERICOM’s world-class teleport and terrestrial infrastructure, offering satcom solutions to the U.S. DOD and related programs and users.”

Recent tests of XTAR’s high power commercial X-band service using U.S. military legacy equipment has shown data rates that far exceed the capabilities of current military X-band systems. Notably, throughput on XTAR-EUR can achieve data rates in excess of 100 Mbps with only minor antenna and terminal modifications to current equipment in use in the field today.

March 2, 2006 – Princeton, NJ – SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges: SESG), announced today that the AMERICOM-23 (AMC-23) satellite that was launched on December 29, 2005, has successfully completed a full battery of in-orbit-tests and is now operational from its assigned location of 172 degrees East.

As of today, the large, high-powered, C/Ku-band satellite, is providing services to customers including Connexion by Boeing, a provider of in-flight high-speed Internet service, on the Ku-band payload as well as various commercial and government customers on the C-band side.

Dany Harel, SES AMERICOM's Vice President of Space Systems and Operations, said, “The IOT has been remarkably smooth and we have every confidence that for the next 15 years AMC-23 will support a multitude of customer applications … from high-speed broadband access to the internet for airline passengers flying over the Pacific … to television delivery between the U.S. and East Asia.” He continued, “AMC-23 bears the distinctive attributes of an AMERICOM-specified spacecraft with high levels of redundancy in critical bus and payload subsystems; Alcatel delivered a great next generation satellite.”

Jeff Flagel, Director of Supply Chain & Production, Connexion by Boeing, said, “AMC-23 will enable Connexion by Boeing to offer our service in aviation and maritime markets over the vast Pacific Ocean, as well as select land masses in the Pacific Rim. That coverage has been and remains a key part of our strategy in expanding our global network.”

“The distinctive coverage and power of AMC-23 positions AMERICOM to 1) expand our ability to serve various branches of U.S. Armed Forces in the Pacific region through AMERICOM Government Services; 2) address business network demands for data, voice and video services within the Alaska to Australia footprint; 3) offer regional broadcasters a singular path between the Pacific Rim and the Americas; and 4) through Connexion by Boeing, support direct to aircraft and maritime services,” said Andreas Georghiou, SES AMERICOM Chief Commercial Officer.

About AMC-23
Built by Alcatel Alenia Space, AMC-23 is the second Spacebus 4000 spacecraft in the AMERICOM fleet, and has been prepared for operation from 172 degrees East. A hybrid C/Ku-band satellite, AMC-23 can deliver and receive signals from California to Bangladesh, from as far north as Alaska in the U.S. and as far south as Australia and New Zealand, and all points in between. The spacecraft will serve local, transcontinental and transoceanic customers across the Pacific region, including Western North America, East Asia, the South Pacific, Alaska and Hawaii, and provide links to the world's premier regional satellite systems. (more)

The design of AMC-23 combines a conventional C-band landmass coverage payload with an innovative Ku-band oceanic coverage payload. The satellite's Ku-band payload, comprised of 20 high-powered transponders with varied bandwidths from 27 to 72 MHz, has been tailored to ensure consistent and constant broadband connectivity requirements of our customers, including Connexion by Boeing. In comparison, the 18 transponder C-band payload will be used by broadcasters, cable programmers, Internet service providers, government agencies, educational institutions, carriers and private networks for next generation distribution solutions within, and connectivity to, North America and the Pacific Rim.

market,  being  sizably  oversubscribed  when  the  book building closed on
Tuesday  evening,  following  an  intensive three-day road show in Europe’s
principal  financial  centres.  The  market’s  reaction  led the Company to
increase  its initial target size for the issue from EUR 500 million to EUR
650  million. The new issue was subsequently priced at 48 basis points over
mid-swaps offering a coupon of 4 %.
