FAR EAST ENERGY ANNOUNCES EARLY GAS FROM FIRST HORIZONTAL WELL
Houston, Texas – May 31, 2006 – Far East Energy Corporation (OTC BB:FEEC) announced that it has successfully achieved continuous gas flow in its first horizontal well in the Shouyang Block (FCC HZ01) of its project in Shanxi Province, China. At this early stage, the volume being produced is still small and the data obtained is not yet sufficient to be able to project peak gas production.
“We have attained a significant milestone with gas being desorbed from the coal,” stated Michael McElwrath, CEO and President of Far East Energy. “We have been very pleased with the dewatering of the HZ01 well because our initial well data evidences that the permeability of the #15 coal seam is much higher than we had anticipated. This high permeability and our desire to build a grouping of wells for production purposes are precisely why we located our third horizontal well, the FCC HZ03, in very close proximity to the HZ01.”
In coalbed methane production water must be produced before the pressure in the coal seam drops sufficiently to allow gas to release (desorb) and begin to flow. Water production from the HZ01 was higher than projected, but numerous water analyses and data from an observation well 400 feet from the HZ01 indicated that the produced water in the HZ01 was not from an extraneous source, and that the water level was being lowered, thus reducing the pressure in the coal seam. The higher water production is considered to be a positive indication of higher than anticipated permeability in the coal. Permeability measures the ease with which a gas or liquid can flow through rock or a similar medium, and the greater the permeability the easier it is for gas to flow through the coal.
“This information is very significant as it could suggest both a higher volume of total gas production over the economic life of the well, as well as a more rapid rate of production in the early years,” said Garry Ward, Senior Vice President Engineering.
As previously disclosed, in April 2006, Far East Energy began drilling its third horizontal well (FCC HZ03) in the Shouyang Block of its Shanxi Province project in China. The Company chose to drill the FCC HZ03 well adjacent to the HZ01 well because of the high permeability observed in the HZ01. This made the area around the HZ01 the preferred locale for the establishment of a large gas drainage pattern and gas production unit. The Company has now completed drilling a short-radius horizontal well with approximately 1075 feet in the targeted #15 seam, and Far East is preparing to begin dewatering. The belief that the high permeability in the coal seam makes significant production possible with shorter horizontal laterals, as well as difficulties encountered while drilling, led to the conclusion that the well should be completed to 1,075 feet.
The Shouyang Block is part of the 4,280 square kilometer (1,057,650 acres) coalbed methane (CBM) project in Shanxi Province that Far East holds under farmouts from ConocoPhillips. Including its 1073 square kilometer project in Yunnan Province, the coalbed methane concessions of Far East Energy contain a land mass slightly larger than the State of Delaware.

HOUSTON, TX--(MARKET WIRE)--Aug 22, 2006 -- Far East Energy Corporation (OTC BB:FEEC.OB - News) announced that it has signed a contract to begin drilling its fourth horizontal well in the Shouyang Block of its Shanxi project in early September 2006. This next well, the FCC HZ04, will be drilled horizontally with a total target length in the No. 15 coal seam of approximately 800 meters. The well will be drilled adjacent to the FCC HZ01 and FCC HZ03 wells so that maximum synergies can be achieved between the respective dewatering processes of each of these wells.

The company believes that the high permeability and gas content indicated in this area in the No. 15 coal seam, should make significant gas production possible with shorter horizontal laterals and that has led to the conclusion that the FCC HZ04 should be drilled to only approximately 800 meters in the coal seam. The fourth horizontal well is being strategically placed to enhance dewatering, and future wells are planned to be drilled in a pattern that progressively dewaters the area and hopefully produces gas flow commensurate with the preliminary indications of high gas content and high permeability measured in the company's early wells.
Permeability in the area of the FCC HZ01, appears much better than expected and at an estimated at 20 to 100 millidarcies, is some 40 to 300 times greater than the 0.3 to 0.5 millidarcies originally projected. For reference purposes, the permeability generally attributed to the prolific San Juan Basin of the United States is 25 millidarcies. Far East Energy continues the dewatering process on the FCC HZ01, the FCC HZ02, and the FCC HZ03 wells, located in the Shouyang Block of the Shanxi project. The company is also performing periodic workover procedures as necessary to maximize the results from each of those wells. The company believes that dewatering is taking longer than anticipated due to the much higher than estimated permeability in the area. Permeability measures the ease with which a gas or liquid can flow through rock or a similar medium and is one of many reservoir and geological characteristics on which the productivity potential of a well depends. Therefore, reservoirs with high permeability have a higher propensity for strong water and gas production than less permeable reservoirs.
Desorption analysis on the gas content of the No.15 coal seam in the area of the company's first three wells produced coal gas content results between 450 to 600 standard cubic feet (scf) per ton, compared to the generally estimated range of 400 to 500 scf per ton for the San Juan Basin -- a basin known for high gas content and production rates.

This high permeability, high gas content and our desire to build a grouping of wells for production purposes are the reasons we are locating our fourth horizontal well, the FCC HZ04, in very close proximity to the FCC HZ01 and the FCC HZ03 wells. Further, Chinese authorities have recently announced plans to construct a 1,080 mile long provincial pipeline network within the Shanxi Province, with branches traversing our acreage, which we hope will hasten the creation of a production unit in the Shouyang Block."
Over the next two months, Far East Energy plans to shoot 20 to 25 kilometers of 2D seismic and drill a slim hole with the objective of identifying the optimum location for a future horizontal well in the No. 3 coal seam in the Qinnan Block of the Shanxi Project. The No. 3 coal seam was selected because it appears to be thicker than other coal seams in the Qinnan Block and has been the target of significant drilling activity to the south of the Qinnan Block by other operators.
Far East Energy also plans to negotiate a contract for the drilling of its first horizontal well in the Yunnan project, which it expects to begin later this year. The company plans to drill this well, the LC-03, to satisfy the exploration requirements of Phase II of the Enhong-Laochang Production Sharing Contract. That phase requires the drilling of a horizontal well with at least two radials in the well. This well will target the Nos. 7 and 8 coal seams, which in the Yunnan project acreage are thicker than other prospective coal seams.

Sehr geehrte Mitgesellschafter von East Energy,
als einer der grössten Aktionäre der Far East Energy Corporation
sind wir empört über die jüngsten Aktionen des
Unternehmensvorstands, die unserer Meinung nach dazu dienen, sich
auf Kosten der Aktionäre abzusichern. Wir schreiben Ihnen heute, um
Sie zu bitten, unsere Kampagne zu unterstützen, um diese skandalösen
Aktionen zu stoppen und die Rechte der Investoren der Far East
Energy Corporation zu schützen.
Wahrscheinlich haben Sie festgestellt, dass Far East in der
letzten Woche weit über 18 Millionen Stammaktienanteile verkauft
hat, die zum Grossteil von einer Gruppe ungenannter
"institutioneller Investoren" erworben wurden. Far East hat
ausserdem mitgeteilt, dass der Verkauf von noch mehr Aktien in den
nächsten Tagen bevorsteht. Diese Verkäufe finden statt, obwohl der
Aktienpreis von Far East nur geringfügig über dem historischen

Konferenzgespräch mit den Aktionären, in dem sie ihrer Aktionen
hätte begründen können, unter durchsichtigen Ausflüchten um fast
eine Woche verschoben, und hat die Verzögerung zur Durchführung ihrer
verwässernden Aktienverkäufe genutzt. Trotz wiederholter Aufforderung
hat die Unternehmensleitung alle Versuche seitens Tim Whyte, unseres
Repräsentanten im Vorstand, zurückgewiesen, Informationen über diese
Verkäufe zu erhalten. Herr Whyte ist als Director berechtigt,
Informationen einzuholen, unter anderem über die Identität der
"institutionellen Investoren", die den Grossteil der Aktien erworben
haben.
Wir glauben, dass die ungenannten Begünstigten dieses "Sweetheart
Deals" ihre Stimmen dazu verwenden werden, um auf der bevorstehenden
Jahresversammlung die Wahl zu Gunsten der Board of
Directors-Kandidaten der Unternehmensleitung ungerechtfertigt zu
beeinflussen. Wir sind tatsächlich der Ansicht, dass das Management
diese Aktienverkäufe betreibt, weil ihm bewusst ist, dass ein
grosser Teil der gegenwärtigen Aktionäre unsere Vorschläge
befürworten würde.
Die Aktionäre müssen jetzt handeln, um eine weitere Schädigung des
Unternehmens und seiner Investitionen zu verhindern. Wir werden in
Kürze unsere eigene Bevollmächtigungserklärung hinterlegen, in der
wir eine Gruppe von Direktoren nominieren, die dem Nutzen für die
Aktionäre und nicht der Sicherung des eigenen Arbeitsplatzes und der
Vetternwirtschaft den Vorrang geben. Wir fordern Sie dringend auf,
sich uns anzuschliessen und mit der GOLDENEN Proxy-Karte zu wählen,
die dieser Erklärung beiliegen wird.
Wir können aber nicht bis 15. Dezember warten, um das das
Management wissen zu lassen, dass wir seine fortgesetzte Vernichtung
des Wertes und die potenzielle Gefährdung der Aktionärsdemokratie
nicht tolerieren. Diese Zustände herrschen schon viel zu lange.
Ein Protokoll des Scheiterns
Drei Jahre, USD 60 Mio., keine Ergebnisse
Wir glauben, dass die Zahlen für sich selbst sprechen und das
Leistungsversagen des Managements illustrieren. Einschliesslich der
Investition von ungefähr USD 10 Mio., die wir mit einer Gruppe
anderer Investoren im Dezember 2004 getätigt haben, hat das
Unternehmen über USD 60 Mio. aufgebracht, seit das derzeitige
Management gegen Ende 2003 angetreten ist. Investoren warten nach
wie vor auf verifizierte Nachweise von wirtschaftlich nutzbarem Gas
aus einer der vier Quellen des Unternehmens. Währenddessen ist der
Aktienpreis ständig gefallen.
Dieses schockierend schlechte Ergebnis wurde in einem
Investitionsumfeld erzielt, das für Energiefirmen das Beste seit
Jahrzehnten ist. Wie das eigene Leistungsdiagramm des Unternehmens
in seinem jüngsten Proxy-Statement zeigt, werden andere Unternehmen
in diesem Sektor durchwegs stärker. Eine Analyse der Leistung seit
Antritt des gegenwärtigen Managements zeigt einen noch stärkeren
Kontrast: eine Investition von USD 100 in Far East, die Ende 2003
getätigt wurde, wäre derzeit nur USD 32,32 wert; im Vergleich zu USD
129,82 für eine Investition in S&P 500-Unternehmen bzw. USD 139,78
für eine Investition im Dow Jones U.S. Exploration and Production
Index. Als weiteres vielsagendes Beispiel verweisen wir auf Green
Dragon Gas Ltd., ein Unternehmen, das Far East ähnlich ist (wobei es
sich vielleicht auf einer noch früheren Entwicklungsstufe befindet)
und seit Kurzem auf dem Alternative Investment Market der Londoner
Börse notiert. Das Unternehmen wies am Freitag, 20. Oktober 2006,
eine Marktkapitalisierung von nahezu USD 540 Mio. auf, im Gegensatz
zu ungefähr USD 111 Mio. für Far East.
Potemkinsche Steuerung
Das Management schildert in der Sprache vorgefertigter
Textbausteine auf vielen Seiten wie wunderbar seine
Führungsmassnahmen sind. Wir glauben hingegen, dass seine
Behauptungen so inhaltsleer sind, wie jene, die es bezüglich
Shareholder Value macht.
Im Laufe der letzten zwei Jahre haben wir wiederholt unsere
Besorgnis über die Richtung des Unternehmens geäussert, und dass
ständig versucht wurde, Geldmittel zu beschaffen, ohne dass ein
strategischer Plan für die effektive Verwendung vorhanden war. Diese
neuen Fundraising-Aktionen begannen kurz nachdem wir unsere
Investitionen im Dezember 2004 getätigt hatten, führten zu Verkäufen
im Sommer 2005 und 2006, und gipfelten im jüngsten Verkauf von über
18 Millionen Anteilen in der letzten Woche.
Frustriert kamen wir zu dem Schluss, dass wir keine andere Wahl
hatten, als uns für eine Änderung des Vorstands einzusetzen. Am 15.
September nominierten wir eine Gruppe von Kandidaten, die unserer
Auffassung nach das stark benötigte technische Know-how und die
Kenntnis des chinesischen CBM- Marktes mitbrachten. Wir stellten
ausserdem klar, dass wir gewillt waren, mit dem Management in einen
Dialog darüber einzutreten, wie das Unternehmen vorwärts gebracht
werden sollte.
Die Reaktion des Managements war, sich einzubunkern. In typischer
Manier wurde die Entscheidung über unsere Vorschläge in einem
Kommittee begraben, das diese Vorschläge pauschal abwies, ohne
vorher versucht zu haben mit uns zu sprechen. Diese Reaktion kam
nicht überraschend, da das Management fast keine eigenen Mittel im
Unternehmen investiert hat und deshalb nicht motiviert ist, seine
Interessen mit denen der Aktionäre abzustimmen. Michael McElwrath,
der CEO des Unternehmens, besitzt beispielweise laut des eigenen
Proxy Statements des Unternehmens lediglich 100 Stammaktien.
Unsere Zukunftssttrategie für Shareholder Valu
Bis zur Abstimmung am 15. Dezember können wir sehr viel gemeinsam
unternehmen. Wir werden Ihnen in den kommenden Wochen unsere Pläne
zur Verbesserung des Wertes für Aktionäre und zur Reformierung der
Unternehmensführung übermitteln. Wir beabsichtigen, einen
detaillierten Reformplan vorzulegen, der unter anderem folgende
Punkte umfasst:
- Stärkung des Vorstands mit äusserst notwendigem Fachwissen, um
sicherzustellen, dass strategische Entscheidungen gefällt werden.
- Formulierung einer integrierten Unternehmensstrategie, die
Operationen, Marketing und Finanz über einen angemessenen
Zeithorizont definiert.
- Implementierung bester Praktiken, die die Interessen des

- Rücknahme von Statuten, die gegen Aktionäre gerichtet sind, um
grössere Verantwortung des Vorstands und echte Aktionärsdemokratie
zu gewährleisten.
Um zu zeigen, wie sehr wir an dieses Unternehmen glauben, werden
wir dem Management klar machen, dass wir gewillt sind, mehr
Anteilskapital am Unternehmen zu erwerben und werden bei der
Jahresversammlung eine Vorschlag zur Abstimmung stellen; derzeit zu
einem Preis von 90 Cents pro Anteil, ohne 6% Kommission. Wir sind
der Meinung, dass das Management zur Erwägung dieses Angebots
verpflichtet ist, falls es irgendwelche andere Ziele, als seine

Hast dich auch ein wenig schlau gemacht, wieso die Aktie gesunken ist und wieso jetzt ein guter Zeitpunkt für einen Einstieg sein dürfte?
Ich glaube eher nicht! Gestern war das selbe mit MC zu beobachten. Es kommen sehr viele Einträge von dir, aber konnte mich noch nicht von deinem Wissen überzeugen.
Vielleicht gehtstt die Sache etwas sachlicher an und vertraust auch mal einen "Außenseiter".
Wollte dir mit diesem Eintrag nicht zu nahe treten, allso nimms net persölich.
Aber mach dich bitte etwas schlau bevor du (fast) überall postest.
