500 MW Yarjeep Concessions in the State of Arunachal Pradesh
These 3 concessions which form a cascade of projects on the same river were obtained by the group in July 2007. Initially thought to be a 200 MW project, detailed hydrological investigations have proved that the water flow in the Yarjeep river was much higher than anticipated. The group has therefore been able to obtain an increase in the size of the concession from 200 MW to 500 MW from the Government of Arunachal Pradesh in July 2009, and the necessary corresponding pre-clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forest in April 2010.
This is an extremely significant project which will entail an investment in the range of 550 millions of Euros. Based on current prices of power in India, revenue and EBITDA could be respectively in the 110 and 100 millions of Euros range.
As of today, as per the knowledge of the Group, we are still the only foreign company owning such a concession in India. Given that most the big hydropower concessions have already been awarded, repeating such a feat will be difficult.
