62060 Postings, 7031 Tage LibudaViber: Die WhatsApp Newsletter Alternative

03.12.19 10:28

CABIFY, the Spanish ride-hailing app, has expanded its operation in southern Spain.

Anyone in the cities of Cartagena and Murcia can now use the Cabify app to order a car to collect them and within minutes one of the drivers in the area will arrive to take them where they want to go.

Vehicles are driven by their owners, who are self-employed service providers.

Journeys can be paid by credit card in advance or by cash upon arrival.

The system is operative in many other major cities in Spain including Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Seville, Valencia, Alicante and A Coruña, as well as in Latin America and Portugal.

Nissan and Booking.com Amongst First Advertisers on Rakuten TV’s New AVOD Service
Seven internationally-renowned brands, including Nissan and Booking.com, will use innovative advertising on Rakuten TV’s new AVOD service across Europe as Founding Partners.

Following Rakuten Marketing’s announcement to serve as the exclusive ad-seller for Rakuten TV’s new ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) service in Europe, the company has confirmed seven internationally-renowned brands ready to use its innovative advertising service across Europe as Founding Partners. Brands including Nissan, Booking.com, ING, Paco Rabanne, Danone, MSC Cruises and Perfetti Van Melle will become Founding Partners for the AVOD service.

As Founding Partners, these brands will be amongst the pioneers utilising advertising opportunities available on the first pan-European VOD platform that provides ad-supported channels offering Hollywood, local and exclusive content for free. Part of the Rakuten group of businesses alongside Rakuten Marketing, Rakuten TV is the first platform to combine transactional-based video-on-demand (TVOD) and AVOD products across Europe. Creating the availability of advertising-funded, on-demand media content helps meet the constantly evolving consumer demand for high quality, affordable entertainment. In turn, advertisers can take advantage of exclusive inventory, through Rakuten Marketing, allowing them to engage new audiences across the globe.

Rakuten Mobile, a Rakuten Group company responsible for mobile communications, has selected ROBIN.io to enable the former’s end-to-end cloud-native network.

As part of the tie-up, Robin platform will help Rakuten in automating deployment, scaling and lifecycle management that accelerate service delivery, improving the end-user experience, and also reducing infrastructure and operational costs of telco and service delivery applications.

The platform is said to help Rakuten create a cloud-native deployment model that is optimized with Robin’s application-aware storage and carrier-grade networking.

For the uninitiated, Robin.io’s patent-protected technology is built upon Kubernetes and powers the platform for IT transformation used by global customers such as USAA, SAP, Sabre, BNP Paribas and Palo Alto Networks.

the market and posing a legitimate challenge to established telcos.

“We are again in the same situation as innovators. The status quo cannot deliver on the premise of 5G,” according to Altiostar EVP of Strategy and Product Management Thierry Maupile. It’s not just an architecture, he said, but “a necessity.”

Maupile agreed that methods of enterprise adoption associated with previous generations of cellular have been successful and he warned of greenfield network operators like Rakuten entering the market and posing a legitimate challenge to established telcos.

“They are going to enter and they are going to disrupt the section. The likelihood that someone will enter your market is pretty high.” And that dynamic puts the impetus on telcos to “transition now” to open, cloud-native networks. He gave the example of Telefonica as a multinational telco that “decided not to wait.”

Telefonica and Rakuten are both investors in Altiostar.

Singapore fintech startup Coda Payments raises over $20m

Singapore-based payments service provider Coda Payments announced that it’s bagged an investment of more than US$20 million in a deal led by private equity asset manager Apis Partners through its Apis Growth Fund II.

Founded in 2011, Coda helps publishers such as Tencent, Garena, and Netflix monetize games and other digital content. Through Codapay, Coda allows these companies to accept more than 100 payment methods on their websites, including direct carrier billing, bank or ATM transfer, cash payments at convenience stores, online vouchers, and e-wallets.

It also operates Codashop, a platform where users can top up their game credits and other digital services. It also offers a white-label version of Codashop, which allows ecommerce sites to offer a wide range of digital content.

In April, the company said it has been profitable for around a year and a half. Since it began processing transactions in 2013, Coda claims to have tripled the total value of payments that it handles annually on average.

It has raised at least US$5.3 million from a number of funding rounds, according to data from Crunchbase. Its existing backers include GMO Global Payment Fund, Rakuten Ventures, CyberAgent Ventures, and Golden Gate Ventures, among others.

Uber - 2011 / Lyft - 2012

Uber and Lyft are the perfect example of how new technology is built on the shoulders of the technology that came before it in two different ways. First, with a connected population that has GPS in their pockets, the companies were able to take advantage of the technology to “change the way we travel,” Barry Ritholtz, CEO of Ritholtz Wealth Management, said in an email.

At the same time, Uber and Lyft capitalized on the emergence of the sharing economy: their innovation was letting people take advantage of extra time and their cars if they wanted to — even if it hasn’t always been a success for drivers and profitable for the companies. As Nicolaj Siggelkow, an economics professor at Wharton, put it, these companies have been successful “crowd orchestrators,” bringing in consumers as suppliers.
