http://www.nzz.ch/nachrichten/wirtschaft/aktuell/...en_1.5914835.html

4 Gründe für den Einstieg

1. Vom besten trennt man sich am unliebsten. Würde OPAP in den nächsten Jahren nicht wieder dicke Gewinne erwirtschaften, würde Griechenland OPAP veräußern.

2. Die WM steht vor der Tür!

3. Monopol bis 2030! + Zusätzliche Regulierung des Online Markts!

4. ACHTUNG: am 16.06 wird die Aktie ex-dividend gehandelt. Wer also noch die dicke Dividende abkassieren will, sollte zuschlagen!

Greece's OPAP says may cut 2010 dividend payout

ATHENS, June 16 (Reuters) - Greece's OPAP, Europe's biggest betting firm, said on Wednesday it may lower its dividend payout for 2010 fiscal year to preserve cash and expand operations.

The firm, 34-percent state owned, has been paying out about 95 percent of its net earnings. OPAP paid a 1.75 euro dividend per share on 2009 profit.

'...this year we will be looking at our dividend policy very intensively, because we may need to use a lot of equity capital, as we are thinking of entering a series of new activities,' OPAP's Chairman Haris Stamatopoulos told reporters.

He said OPAP had not reached a final decision yet.

Debt-ridden Greece said on Tuesday it would soon release a draft bill to lift a ban on low-price gaming machines and Internet betting in a bid to raise government revenues as it scrambles to shore up public finances.

The government has earmarked about 1.3 billion euros in proceeds from betting licences and royalties over the next three years as part of a 110 billion euro EU/IMF bailout.

OPAP reiterated it would bid for a licence for gaming machines whenever the government launches a tender and said it was also talking with numerous systems vendors, including Intralot, to secure the necessary technology ahead of the possible opening of internet betting in Greece.

OPAP's has suffered serious revenue losses from online gambling competitors. Although currently illegal in Greece, the market is estimated between 3.5 to 5 billion euros.

"From the last World Cup in 2006 we saw an increase," he said. "And we expect there will be a similar result in 2010. There is increased interest, and we do see that interest," he added.

"We saw a EUR17 million drop in operating expenses in the first quarter," said Spanoudakis. "If you multiply that by four... that is a very big number. Based on that, we think we are within targets," he concluded.

Zudem:

July 8 (Reuters) - Greece's OPAP (OPAr.AT), Europe's biggest betting firm, expected about 250 million euros ($314.9 million) in revenues from wagers during the World Soccer Cup, sources from the company said on Thursday.

"It is obvious that four years ago, there was not as much competition and the economy was in better shape," said one of the sources.

"Now, with a recession and with much more intense competition, we expect 250 million euros," the source added.

OPAP: World Cup Revenue Seen At EUR270-290 Mil.

State run betting monopoly OPAP estimates that its revenue from the World Cup will reach EUR270-290 mil., sources said. 250 million euros from 400 million in the previous tournament, two company sources said.

They noted that without the semifinals, revenue was at about 230-240 mil. euro. While the payout was lower from the 78% levels.

Bets placed with OPAP for the 2006 World Cup had exceeded 400 mil. euro.

Analysts say that this is a positive development, given the competition and the adverse economic conditions.

Meanwhile, BofA-ML said it reiterates its ‘Buy’ rating on OPAP as it believes that its dividend yield of 9.8% in 2011E looks very attractive relative to the European gaming sector average of 5.4% and OPAP’s long-term historical average of 8%.

It sets a price target of EUR13.30.

Desweiteren gibt es Neuigkeiten zum Monopol:
"OPAP MONOPOLY

Greece's regulated betting market consists of state-controlled operator OPAP (OPAr.AT), nine casinos, a horse racing operator and state lotteries. Total proceeds in 2008 were about 8.7 billion euros ($11.90 billion).

OPAP, Europe's biggest betting firm, offers three fixed-odds sports bets and six lotteries in Greece and Cyprus, producing revenues of about 5.4 billion euros in 2009. It has exclusive rights on sports betting and lotto games in Greece until 2020.

ONLINE BETTING

More than 250 illegal gambling websites offer services, handling about 2 billion euros of bets each year.

On top of that, several unlicensed bookmakers and operators offering poker and casino games have annual turnover of up to 2 billion euros.

GAMING MACHINES

Greece banned all gambling machines in 2002, excluding OPAP and slot machines in casinos, after illegal operators mushroomed but the EU ruled that the ban violated European law and has fined Greece about 11.5 million euros a year.

Despite the ban, there remain between 10,000 and 20,000 so-called Amusement With Prize (AWPs) machines and 100,000 to 150,000 terminals.

HORSE RACING

Punters can wager on horse racing through several outlets around the country. The business had an annual loss of 27 million euros in 2009.

DRAFT BILL ON GAMING

- Greece will auction 15-50 5-year online betting licences.

- It will also offer 10-year licences for up to 30,000 low-stake gaming machines.

- The minimum payout to winners will be 80 percent for both low-price gaming machines and online betting.

- Greece will allow amusement gaming machines in licenced locations.

- The government will collect a 6 percent tax on online gambling and gaming machine revenues.

"Opap SA (OPAP GA) advanced 2.7 percent to 13.74 euros, on course for an eighth day of gains. Europe’s biggest listed gambling company is on HSBC’s “Top Picks” for Greek equities in the first half of 2011 as earnings have “proved resilient” and planned reforms to the Greek gambling market could “alleviate fears of industry liberalization” and drive earnings growth"
Quelle

"On the new state tax policy, OPAP’s effective tax rate will fall sharply to 30% from the current estimate of 50%, boosting EPS so buyers jumped in," Kostas Zouzoulas, head of analysis at Axia Venture Group, told Dow Jones Newswires.
"Other gaming policy changes bode well for OPAP to enter internet betting and slot machines even if the VLTs are low margin and may not be in sufficient number to cover all its network," he added.

HSBC Sets OPAP΄s Price-Target At EUR18
HSBC said it raises OPAP’s price target to EUR18, while it maintains its overweight rating.

According to a HSBC’s report, earnings resilience has been proved and it forecasts momentum reversing.

Moreover, planned gaming reforms could drive earnings growth and prompt re-rating by alleviating liberalisation fears.

OPAP managed to grow Q3 2010 earnings by 28% year over year despite a sharply contracting economy, according to the report.

In addition, OPAP is about to launch new monitor and direct-draw games, targeting new client segments and beefing up cross-selling.

HSBC raises 2011-12 EPS estimates by 4%-6%, seemingly small but arguably the first upgrades for two years now.

Despite outperforming the local market by 31% during 2010, OPAP trades at 7.5x 2011 underlying Earnings Per Share, while offering dividend and Free Cash Flow yields of 10%-11%. At the same time, net cash amounts to no less than 18% of market value.
