Nach Quantas Airlines ist Virgin Blue die 2.Größte Fluggesellschaft in Australien. Virgin Blue ist nicht nur ein heißer Übernahme Kandidat sondern allgemein gut aufgestellt. Zwar dürfte im abgelaufenen Geschäftsjahr der Umsatz von 6% auf 2,5 Milliarden australische Dollar gesteigert haben,jedoch in die roten Zahlen abgerutscht sein.Ab 2009/2010 und vor allem 2010/2011 soll es wieder steil aufwärts gehen !! Kursziel 1,20 €

Dubai: Emirates and Virgin Blue airlines have teamed up to launch the Emirates Visit Australia Pass allowing unprecedented offers Down Under. The pass offers attractively-priced domestic connections to 22 additional Australian destinations on Virgin Blue from all four Australian cities currently served by Emirates: Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Emirates passengers visiting the country can extend their journey to Adelaide, Albury, Broome, Byron Bay, Cairns, Canberra, Coffs Harbour, Darwin, Fraser Coast, Gold Coast, Hamilton Island, Hobart, Karratha, Launceston, Mackay, Mildura, Newcastle, Newman, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Whitsunday Coast with Virgin Blue.
The Emirates Visit Australia Pass heralds positive news for Australian tourism - especially for centres outside the country's major cities. na also, geht doch :-)) Aber das war erst der Anfang !! Kursziel 1,20 € !!Daran halte ich fest.

Also mal ganz ruhig bleiben !! Virgin Blue gehört zu der 2.Gr. Fluggesellschaft nach Quantas Airlines in Australien. Was für die Aktie spricht ist zum einen das diese völlig unterbewertet ist (Buchwert 0,85 €) und zum anderen das die Kerosinpreise in Q3 + Q4 fallen ! (steigendes Preisleistungsverhältnis und operatives Geschäft)
Zudem kommt noch hinzu, daß zum einen die schlechten news raus sind und Emirates an einer Übernahme an Virgin Blue bzw. an einer Partnerschaft interessiert ist. Die Emirates ist die Creme de la Creme ( 42 x A380 ) die Emirates hat bereits mehrere Angebote über Fusionen wie z.b. mit Star Alliance abgelehnt, was für sich spricht ! Sollte es jedoch zu einer Übernahme bzw. Partnerschaft kommen, müssten mindestens 0,80 € pro Aktie herausspringen. Das sollte Grund genug sein.
Hoffe ich konnte Eure Antworten beantworten.
Die Aktie ist trotz Übernahmefantasie nach wie vor ein Schnäppchen. An einem Kursziel von 1,20 € ( +600%) Langfrisitg wird festgehallten.

Virgin Blue fliegt Ziele innerhalb Australiens an. Der Brisbane International Airport ist das Drehkreuz der Fluggesellschaft. Von dort werden Flüge nach ganz Australien angeboten, verstärkt nach Sydney und Melbourne. Virgin Blue fliegt auch nicht-metropolische Ziele an, z.B. Mackay, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Whitsunday Coast (Proserpine), Olympic Dam, etc. Nach Tasmanien werden ebenfalls Flüge angeboten (Hobart, Launceston). Im Gegensatz zur australischen Billiglinie Jetstar Airways unterscheidet sich Virgin Blue in der Zusammensetzung und Ausstattung der Flotte.

Die Gerüchteküche brodelt. Grund ist die zweitgrößte Fluggesellschaft Australiens, Virgin Blue Group. Da die Gründung der Tochter V Australia, die die australischen Routen bedient, mit hohen Einführungskosten und einem schwachen Start verbunden ist, gehen Marktbeobachter von einem Zusammenschluss von Virgin Blue mit einem internationalen Partner oder zumindest einer Beteiligung an den Australiern aus. Hoch gehandelt werden derzeit Air New Zealand, die mit der Virgin-Tochter Pacific Blue in Konkurrenz stehen, und Emirates, mit denen die Australier ein Code-Sharing-Programm haben.
Auch ein geplantes Joint Venture mit der US-Fluglinie Delta Airlines auf den transpazifischen Routen dürfte Virgin bei Zustandekommen einen Schub geben. Damit könnten die Australier nicht nur die Langstrecke günstiger bedienen, sondern auch Gäs-te aus Übersee auf ihre V-Australia-Tochter im Inland schleusen.
Im abgelaufenen Geschäftsjahr (30. Juni) dürfte Virgin zwar den Umsatz um rund sechs Prozent auf 2,5 Milliarden australische Dollar gesteigert haben, jedoch in die roten Zahlen abgerutscht sein. Ab 2009/10 und vor allem 2010/11 sollte es wieder steil aufwärtsgehen. Stopp: 0,14 Euro.

Passengers aboard a Virgin Blue 737 saw an engine on fire before their flight turned back to Launceston shortly after take-off on Thursday.
Passengers and people on the ground reported seeing flames after what the airline said was an "engine surge".
One of the 151 passengers, Sonia Parker, said there was a loud bang soon after the 11.20am (AEST) take-off.
"The pilot said they had checked everything and they had an engine down and that we could make it to Sydney on one engine, but he wasn't happy so we were heading back to Launceston."
The plane circled over Launceston for 30 minutes while the pilot made checks and alerted the airport.
Virgin Blue spokeswoman Amanda Bolger described the problem as an "engine surge".
"The pilot communicated to the passengers that everything was fine, and they had sufficient engine power to land safely," she said.
Ms Bolger said the passengers were put on another plane to complete their journey.
The incident will be investigated by the airline and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.

was aber nur die damalige situation schildert.. dafür umso bemerkenswerter der kleine kursanstieg in der letzten woche..

Lufthansa Systems, a German provider of IT services for the airline sector, and Australian airline Virgin Blue have signed a long-term contract for the implementation of LoadControl weight and balance solutions at the airline.
According to Lufthansa Systems, after the implementation, Virgin Blue will benefit from lower fuel consumption in its daily flight operations. LoadControl optimizes the load planning of an aircraft, resulting in an increased payload available for additional passengers, baggage or cargo.
The LoadControl solution generates additional revenue potential and reduced fuel consumption of up to 0.5% per flight. Its auto load planning capabilities and the fully automated time driven mode also reduce process costs and improve reliability.
Andrew David, COO of Virgin Blue, said: "LoadControl is a renowned weight and balance application. This proven solution will take our aircraft handling processes to a new level of efficiency. In the current economic environment, this will enhance our competitive position through better aircraft load planning."

UPDATE 4.51pm: VIRGIN Blue expects to break even this financial year after posting a $160 million full-year loss.
A decline in demand for air travel and costs associated with the launch of its long-haul offshoot V Australia contributed to the loss for the 12 months to June 30. This compared with a net profit of $98 million a year earlier.
Excluding significant items, Virgin Blue reported an underlying net loss of $13 million for 2008/09.
The result was in line with the company's forecast in July when it announced a $231 million capital raising.
Chief executive Brett Godfrey said in a statement the operating environment over the past year had been one of the toughest the company had experienced.
Group revenue rose 13 per cent to $2.6 billion while costs grew 22 per cent to $2.7 billion, due mainly to the launch of V Australia and fleet expansion.
Short-haul operations put in a strong performance despite intense competition in the domestic market.
Passenger revenue was up 9.9 per cent. Yield, which measures the revenue an airline makes on each passenger per kilometre, was down only 2.4 per cent and its planes were 79.2 per cent full of passengers on average.
In comparison, V Australia reported an earnings loss of $64 million in its first four months of operations and its planes were only 62.3 per cent full of paying passengers on average.
The company said it expects to break even this financial year, with a positive group cash flow, excluding proceeds from the capital raising.
The airline also expects its cost cutting program to deliver $150 million in savings this financial year.
Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group now owns about 30.2 per cent of the Australian carrier following the recent capital raising.
Air New Zealand reported a 90 per cent fall in annual net profit to $NZ21 million ($A17.32 million), while Qantas Airways last week reported an 88 per cent plunge in annual net profit to $117 million for 2008/09.
Virgin Blue did not declare a final dividend.

MELBOURNE, Sept 2 (Bernama) - Virgin Blue Holdings raised A$98.3 million through the retail component of a new share sale, allowing the discount carrier to survive the downturn and look for expansion opportunities.
The fully underwritten retail offer received overwhelming demand, meaning the airline would scale back applications made by shareholders in excess of their entitlements, Brisbane-based Virgin Blue said on Thursday.
Virgin Blue said it had raised a total of A$231.4 million from retail and institutional shareholders by selling 1.16 billion new shares.
" We are delighted with the strong support from our shareholders in the Retail Entitlement Offer," Chief Executive Brett Godfrey said in a statement.
He said as a result of the entitlement offer, Virgin Blue was better positioned to withstand the current difficult operating environment and to take advantage of growth opportunities in the sector as they arised.
The new shares will be traded on September 9.
