Legale Kasinos sollen Nippons Wirtschaft beleben. Gegner warnen vor Spielsucht und befürchten den Einstieg der Mafia.

Mordkammern heißen in Japan illegale Kasinos, in denen Superreiche ausgenommen werden. Dort ist das Glücksspiel im wahren Wortsinn abgekartet: Gäste und Personal gehören allesamt zur japanischen Mafia, der Yakuza. Hostessen in nahen Bars lotsen vermögende Gäste zu den versteckten Spieltischen etwa für Blackjack oder Oichokabu, der japanischen Version von Baccara.

Einem solchen Betrug fiel japanischen Presseberichten zufolge auch Ikawa Mototaka zum Opfer, der oberste Chef des Papierherstellers Daio. Der heute 49-Jährige verspielte in dubiosen Hinterzimmern und in Kasinos im Ausland umgerechnet 42 Millionen Euro. Weil er sich das Spielgeld von eigenen Tochterfirmen besorgte, sitzt Motokawa seit einem Jahr im Gefängnis.

Die Mordkammern sind nur die Spitze des Eisbergs aus illegalem Glücksspiel in Japan: Allein im Großraum Tokio soll es mehr als 1000 überwiegend von der Yakuza organisierte Untergrundkasinos geben. Ungeachtet dieses kriminellen Sumpfes wollen Politiker Nippon jetzt zu einem zweiten Las Vegas machen und Kasinos legalisieren – was hoch umstritten ist.

Bislang sind an Glücksspielen nur einige Sportwetten, Fußball-Toto und eine nationale Zahlenlotterie zugelassen. Die Kasinobefürworter argumentieren wirtschaftlich: Bau und Betrieb der Anlagen würden die Binnenkonjunktur ankurbeln und dem Staat mehr Einnahmen bringen. Zudem sei das Verbot überholt, da viele Japaner Kasinos etwa in Südkorea besuchten. „Dadurch fließen die Steuern woanders hin“, sagt Hiroyuki Hosoda, Abgeordneter der Regierungspartei LDP und Sprecher der Kasinobefürworter im Parlament.

rotzdem nicht, aber irgendwann sind in mein Depot 3.000 Stücl reingerutscht - und dann konnte man die Dinger nicht mehr in Deutschlandn handeln und daher sind sie halt immer noch im Depot. Übrigens ohne dass meine Bank einen Wert angibt, was ich für lächerlich halte, denn man kann dann die Notierung in Malaysia umrechnen und von mir aus auch die US-Notierung.

Gaming commissioners give OK to Genting; construction to begin this summer

LAS VEGAS -- The Nevada Gaming Commission and Control Board found Malaysia-based Genting Malaysia Berhad suitable to do business in the state, and company officials said Thursday construction would begin this summer on the $4 billion Resorts World Las Vegas.

The development is located on the 87-acre Strip site that once was home to the Stardust and where the unfinished Echelon stands.
