By James Macharia

JOHANNESBURG, July 9 (Reuters) - Uranium One (SXR.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) (SRXJ.J: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it expected its output to grow significantly over the next few years to pip top producer Cameco Corp. (CCO.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) by 2013 on current estimates.

Uranium One Chief Executive Neal Froneman said prices for uranium would also grow steadily and viewed the company's production profile as healthy, and well distributed globally with output from Kazakhstan, South Africa and the United States.

Uranium prices have shot higher over the last seven years as renewed interest in nuclear energy has driven demand well above supply, following years of sluggish exploration.

"We can bring a new project into production every year up to 2013," he told a media briefing in Johannesburg, saying the growth would come from both organic expansion and acquisitions.

He predicted spot prices would hit $150 a pound before the end of the year, up from $7 in 2000, but said prices paid by utilities over the long term would likely be around $60 a pound.

Froneman said Uranium One expects to produce 27.9 million pounds of uranium by 2013 from its current output of 2.5 million pounds. The already approved projects will see 10.3 million pounds of uranium produced by 2013.

Cameco was forecast to produce 27.2 million pounds of uranium by 2013, Froneman said.

Uranium One already has assets in Australia, the United States, Kazakhstan and South Africa, and last month offered to buy Toronto-listed Energy Metals Corp. (EMC.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) -- the top U.S. uranium producer -- in an all-stock deal worth about C$1.4 billion ($1.34 billion).

Of particular interest to Uranium One was expanding its market size in the United States, which is by far the world's largest generator of nuclear energy, and is currently attempting to boost output to reduce reliance on other energy sources, Froneman said.
"There is a nuclear renaissance in the U.S," he said.

The U.S. government had given new incentives to build nuclear reactors, and for the first time in 30 years new reactor applications had been received, with 27 such applications expected this year, he said.

Energy Metals has several properties in the western United States. Uranium One is also prospecting in Canada and Australia.

In South Africa, Uranium One was busy expanding its Dominion Reefs Uranium mine (DRUM) near Johannesburg, and work was largely on schedule to produce 500,000 million pounds of uranium by end-2007, Froneman said.

Froneman said there was urgency in expanding the company before the market regained its balance, and he expected demand to continue to outstrip supply, due to the long time lag between exploration and production, up to about 2015.

"Once uranium market is in balance, growth will be marginal," he said.

Uranium One to exit Aflease
Sherilee Bridge
Mon, 09 Jul 2007

Uranium One, the Canada-based uranium producer with a primary listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange and a secondary listing on the JSE, said on Monday that it planned to exit the gold business that gave birth to the company within the next six months.

Uranium One was unbundled from Aflease Gold and Uranium Resources in 2005, leaving Uranium One as the majority shareholder in JSE-listed Aflease Gold.

Will 'do something' with stake

Neal Froneman, the president and CEO of Uranium One, said Uranium One would "do something" about its 71 percent stake in Aflease within the next six months.

Froneman, who has agreed to step down as Aflease Gold CEO before the end of the year, said the company had a target list of some 30 North American gold producers but admitted that there was no single suitor at this stage.

He dismissed outright the possibility of any talks with South African deep-level gold mining companies.

"Aflease's profile is that of a high margin, low technical risk assets," said Froneman, adding that the profile was very different to most South African producers.

In a responsible way

Acknowledging that its stake is restricting Aflease Gold's liquidity, Froneman has promised that Uranium One would reduce its stake in the gold producer in a responsible way.

This could be done by not following rights in share issues and by further reducing its stake through dilution.

But Froneman said Uranium One may not exit the investment altogether. While the aim was to have Aflease become a standalone, independent company, Uranium One could still bolster Aflease's gold asset base by including some of the non-core gold assets it has inherited as part of its recent acquisitions.

Among these are Golden Predator Mines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Metals Corporation.

Acquiring Energy Metals

Uranium One is in the process of acquiring Energy Metals Corporation for about R10.6-billion after receiving Canadian competition authority clearance for the proposed acquisition on Friday.

Froneman hinted that Uranium One could raise Aflease's capital markets profile by or reversing Aflease Gold into a North American listed company.

This would also give Aflease, which needs to raise about R200-million in the next two years, access to a global pool of capital.

At 1.12pm, shares in Aflease were 2.78 percent lower at 2.80 rand while Uranium One's shares were 3.92 percent higher at 92.75 rand.

Dies alles ohne jegliche negative Meldung!

http://www.uranium1.com/uploads/presentation/...stBriefing_July07.pdf

evtl. 3 Euro in 3 Jahren...
bei so viel Einsatz evtl. Hälfte/ Hälfte?
Wünsche uns beiden so oder so viel Erfolg!

Spot uranium drops again

Leonard Zehr, today at 11:21 AM EDT

For the fourth week in a row, the spot price of uranium has dropped in a continuing meltdown from several years of speculative buying.
The Ux Consulting Co., one of two industry consultancies that determines the weekly benchmark spot price, moved uranium to $120 (U.S.) a pound, down $10, while the other, TradeTech, held the weekly spot price at $129.
Weighing on the market is a decision by the U.S. Department of Energy to auction up to 200 million tonnes of uranium hexafluoride, containing about 520,000 pounds of uranium oxide, in eight lots to finance the clean-up of contaminated DOE uranium inventories.
Wellington West analyst Leonie Soltay points out that buyers remain active in the long-term uranium market, where the current price is $95 a pound and demand is robust, with at least 11 buyers actively seeking supply of about 27 million pounds for the 2007-2017 period.
In trading on the TSX Tuesday, uranium producer Denison Mines Ltd. is down 4.8 per cent to $11.98 and Cameco Corp., reeling from several operational problems, is down 3.3 per cent to $44.62.
