                        Intershop stellt neue Software-Generation vor

                        New York, 4. Oktober 1999 - Intershop Communications AG, führender Hersteller
                        von Sell-side E-Commerce-Software, hat heute auf der ersten weltweiten
                        INTERSHOP-Konferenz für Partner, Kunden und Entwickler in New York vor über
                        1.300 Teilnehmern das neue Produkt "INTERSHOP enfinity" vorgestellt, das auf
                        einer vollkommen neuen Technologie basiert.

                        Mit INTERSHOP enfinity bietet Intershop die erste komplett XML- und Java-
                        basierte Sell-side E-Commerce-Standardsoftware für den Enterprise-Markt an.
                        Durch den Einsatz von Java- und XML-Technologien, die den Einsatz von Internet-
                        software unabhängig von bestehender Hard- und Software ermöglichen, sowie durch
                        neue, einzigartige Produkteigenschaften ist INTERSHOP enfinity die erste
                        Software, die Unternehmen mit höchsten E-Commerce-Ansprüchen in die Lage
                        versetzt, ihre Produkte überall online zu verkaufen und flexibel in vorhandene
                        Geschäftssysteme zu integrieren.

                        Mit der umfassenden Unterstützung von XML, das sich zum technischen Standard für
                        den Austausch von Produkt- und Transaktionsinformationen zwischen Käufer und
                        Verkäufer entwickelt hat, erhalten die INTERSHOP-Nutzer die Möglichkeit, ihre
                        Produkte auf den führenden Handelsplattformen im Internet anzubieten ("sell
                        anywhere"-Konzepte). Dazu gehören die grossen Online-Marktplätze wie
                        CommerceOnes MarketSite.net die Network TM eCommerce-Plattform von Ariba
                        sowie SAPs mySAP.com. "Durch die Unterstützung von CBL 2.0 für den E-Commerce
                        Dokumentenaustausch spielt Intershop eine entscheidende Rolle bei der
                        Verbindung zwischen Käufer und Verkäufer innerhalb des globalen Handelsnetzes,"

                        Commerce One. "Intershops Sell-side-Technologie macht Business-to-Business

                        Die "sell anywhere"-Möglichkeit durch XML schließt den elektronischen Handel
                        über schnurlose Geräte durch das Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) sowie
                        Maschine-zu-Maschine-Transaktionen ein.

                        INTERSHOP enfinity verfügt über eine Komponeten-basierte Architektur
                        (Transaktions-Server, Katalog-Server, Applikation-Server, Management-Center,
                        Datenbank), die projektbezogen zusammen gestellt werden kann. Die einzelnen
                        Komponenten werden durch einen völlig neuartigen sogenannten Pipeline-Manager
                        zu einem kompletten E-Commerce-Geschäftsprozess zusammengesetzt. Dadurch
                        verringert sich nicht nur die Implementierungsdauer für komplexe E-Commerce-
                        Anwendungen, sondern dies ermöglicht ebenfalls stark erweiterte Verkaufs-
                        funktionalitäten, spontane Marketing-Aktionen, transparenten Transaktionen
                        zwischen allen E-Commerce treibenen Firmen und WAP-Unterstützung. In INTERSHOP
                        enfinitys einzigartigem Pipeline-Konzept lassen sich Geschäftprozesse aus
                        bestehenden Systemen in die neuen E-Commerce-Abläufe ohne Programmierkenntnisse
                        integrieren. Ferner basiert INTERSHOP enfinity auf einer offenen Architektur
                        und verfügt über spezielle Schnittstellen für Anbieter von Ergänzungsprodukten
                        (Cartridges). Gegenwärtig sind bereits Cartridges für die ERP-Systeme SAP R/3
                        und JBA, ein Content Management System, eine Personalisierungs- und
                        Recommandation-Engine, ein EDI Converter, ein Traffic Analyse-Tool und ein
                        elektronisches Bezahlungssystem verfügbar.

                        Die Einführung von INTERSHOP enfinity bedeutet für Intershop den Einsstieg in
                        den High end-Enterprise-Markt. Die Preise für INTERSHOP enfinity liegen je nach
                        Kompenentenauswahl zwischen USD 150.000 und mehr als USD 300.000 pro Lizenz.

                        Noch während der Entwicklungsphase wurde INTERSHOP enfinity im Rahmen eines
                        "Early Adopter-Programms" von führenden E-Commerce-Beratungsunternehmen und
                        Systemintegratoren für erste Kundenprojekte erfolgreich angewendet. Bereits

                        Intershop launches new software generation

                        next generation e-commerce software, INTERSHOP enfinity, to an audience of
                        more than 1,300 at ist first annual Intershop Oppen E-Commerce Summit in New
                        York.

                        Intershop enfinity is the first complete XML and Java TM platform-based,
                        sell-side e-business application that offers the enterprise market advanced
                        selling features, closely integrated with existing business models. By using
                        the latest Java XML technolgies which allows independence from existing
                        hardware and software systems as well as by its industry-wide unique product
                        features INTERSHOP enfinity is the first software that enables customers with
                        advanced e-business needs to sell their products anywhere, integrate everything,
                        today and tomorrow. With supporting XML which has emerged as a standard for
                        exchanging supplier content and transaction information between buyers and
                        suppliers, INTERSHOP enfinity enables enterprises to sell anywhere in
                        aggregated marketplaces such as Commerce Ones MarketSite.net, the Ariba
                        Network TM eCommerce platform and SAPs mySAP.com that represent the next

                        Intershop has developed a unique pipeline concept to model business flows.
                        Composed of multiple pipelets, or subtasks, a pipeline manages a discrete
                        business flow such as taking an order. Most e-commerce software applications
                        come with a single pipeline that is used to take an order. These "stovepipe"
                        systems do not allow an enterprise to add new capabilities or even modify
                        existing functionality without extensive and expensive professional services
                        engagements. In contrast, INTERSHOP enfinity comes with more than 75 built-in
                        business pipelines, enabling the creation and modification of a wide variety
                        of business processes. The Visual Pipeline Manager allows an enterprise to
                        modify existing business pipelines or add new ones. This includes business
                        flows within the INTERSHOP enfinity system and among existing systems such

                        The Transactivity Server, The Catalog Sever, The Application Server (PowerTier
                        for EJB licensed from Persistence) and the Management Center. These components

                        Pricing is dependent on component bundles and ranges from $150,000 to more than
                        $300,000 for a full-use license.

                        INTERSHOP enfinitys open architecture includes a Cartridge API allowing

                        best-of-breed, third party software and services.  Cartridges currently under
                        development include integrations with ERP, content management and
                        personalization, payment and fulfillment, and customer relationship management
                        software.

                        Intershop Communications today announced also the participation of leading
                        e-commerce solution providers in the early adopter program for Intershop
                        enfinity. Among the top corporations adopting Intershop enfinity are KPMG,
